I am wondering if there is an antibiotic that is just as effective as Doxycyline but allows me to be in the sun?  If so, what are the pros and cons of such an antibiotic?

Also, as someone new with Lyme (about 7 or 8 weeks) can I elect to get an IV of antibiotics for a week or so in an effort to just knock this out (as much as it can be knocked out)?

I believe amoxycillin is used as an alternative. There are many different antibiotics in the doctors' arsenal. The general wisdom is that doxy is very effective and should be used first, if possible.

Our doctor didn't even try doxy on my husband, he knew just by looking at him that he wasn't going to be able to stay out of the sun!

You really need to consult with your doctor about your treatment options. We are not doctors and know nothing about your health history.

Are you working with a Lyme Literate Doctor?

Thanks for that.  I'll continue to use Doxy of course, was just curious. 

I am still in search of a Lyme literate doctor.  One that accepts insurance that is.

I suffered with Lyme, on and off antibiotics for a looong time. I have been Lyme free since February and feel awesome!

Can you assure me that you have nothing to gain from recommending this book. Like, you aren't Ms Mackin, are you? Or are you someone that knows her?
