Hi Txm55!
Welcome to the forum!! I am so sorry to hear that not only do you have to deal with these infections, but are having issues with your insurance carrier as well! Unfortunately the insurance co's are the ones who get to decide too many things about
the treatment that a patient does or doesn't get.
Although you do have the option of appealing their decision. If you are seeing an ID doc though, I'm afraid that you may not want to take on such a monumental fight while dealing with such a serious infection(s). The stress alone would most likely hamper your healing.
If you haven't already, it would be beneficial for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,
"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of relevant information and informative links that have been put together by our members here! Most of those who have read through it have said that it was very helpful!! We also have a pretty good search function on this forum to help you narrow down your search for information from past posts. We must be our own health advocates now and the best thing to arm yourself with is knowledge!
May I ask what was your purpose in posting Dr. Freed's phone number? I took it down until I hear from you - either here on the forum or you can email me personally. Just click on the envelope under my name.
As far as what's going on, CALDA's (California Lyme Disease Assoc.) "Lyme Policy Wonk" blog is about
the best place to learn all about
the political issues that control the treatment we are able to have access to - at least in my opinion. YOu can find that blog by following this link:
www.lymepolicywonk.org/ Should you wish to find another doc - a LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) we can help with that as well!! We have some links we can share that will take you to several places that offer references.
