Why am I so itchy?

I don't believe this is a reaction to my meds, but it is just so weird I have no rash or redness, just the incessant need to scratch all over. So what is it? Allergic to laundry detergent? IDK. Anyone have mad itchiness before?

If it continues, of course you should see a doctor, but I know that I get 'the itchies' from time to time. With Neuro Lyme, the nerves in your body are just all messed up. They misfire sending the wrong signals, not only causing the itchies, but pain and muscle spams and muscle cramps. Skin hypersensitivity is also something that some of us have the joy of dealing with.

Itching can be a sign of liver problems. Have you had your liver tests done recently?

I just had blood drawn last week and have about 15 test results in the works. It would be interesting to see what my levels are. I think I may end up calling them on Monday, because I am about to go nuts with this-arrrgh.

Itching, swelling and hives can result as part of a herx reaction. If that's the case you might be able to reduce it with simple OTC allergy meds. The 24 hour ones can help a little, but you might have to pull out the big guns (Benadryl) to calm it down enough to get to sleep at night.

I started itching alot after a week or so on doxy. It comes and goes now Ive been on for 4 weeks now... I personally think it could be a herx effect and I dry brush when I itch now.

The weather changing can have some interesting interesting effects on some of us. Of course, most people have drier skin in the winter, but ours can come with extra itchiness or some other little thing. The changes in the weather can actually bring on different kinds of pain for me, especially in my feet, knees and hands.
