Can we talk about IV Rocephin again?

I had my third appointment with my LLMD yesterday and after 3 months of orals and no progress, he wants me to start IV Rocephin.

I was really positive at first but then on the drive home I started to freak out. By the time I got home I needed anxiety medication.

I was up late last night reading all the posts about IV Rocephin and they were not too promising. Lots of temporary remissions but no real progress. Also lots of gallbladder problems and that was never mentioned to me.

Can you share some experiences with me if you can? Good or bad it just helps to hear from others.

I was very frightened, too, when considering IV rocephin. But the fear of brain and central nervous system involvement was greater, so I went with outpatient IV treatments. I started getting better fairly quickly. I did not have bad side effects, but I took good probiotics and watched my diet. I already had lost my gallbladder, so that was not an issue. After IV, I did six months of the Jernigan Protocol and still take one of the remedies today. It is now two years later and I have continued to improve in every way.

My neighbor found that she was not getting any results from oral antibiotics. She went on IV Rocephin and made a full recovery.

I have not had IV Rocephin, however before I knew I had Lyme I had a sudden sever sinus infection which antibiotics did not stop. My doctor saw the state I was in and gave me an injection of this drug and I got better almost immediately. Wondering if that was a lyme related event? Powerful drug for sure. But I go along with the others, I would try it if I was facing possible brain problems.

I am On my 2nd month orals too with no improvement. Im treating bart and lyme.
If im going to be asked by my llmd to do iv rocephin, i will refuse as i really have a great fear of needles. Plus the loosing of gallbladder in the future. But i also read it can also be a cause of sludge with lyme that damage also the gallbladder not only the rocephin causes it.

I might ask my llmd to do naturals if abx are not working.

What does rocephin specifically treat? Lyme bart or babesia?

I am in bad physical shape from Lyme. I have very little use of my left hand and arm. I am typing this with one finger on my right hand. I can no longer walk unaided. I need a cane or something to hold onto.

I have terrible muscle pain and spasms, especially in my legs. I also suffer from insomnia and short term memory problems.

If I could gain some use of my hand or arm I would be very happy. of course walking would be nice too but doing everything with one hand really stinks. I can't believe Lyme can do this to a person.

So yes, I am a mess and am ready for whatever it takes. If I have to lose my Gallbladder, I will deal with it, I just want some mobility back. I worry about the costs of all this but am trying to take it one day at a time.

Fortunately, I have never suffered from depression. I have always been a relatively happy person and still remain positive.

I have no medical knowledge other than my Lyme research. However I will say my cousin had late diagnosed Lyme, affected her brain, movement, etc. after a long time searching she ended up a at LLMD the same one I coincidentally am now seeing. She was prescribed IV at home for 6 + months and got her life back. She is an active, vibrant, athletic person today. So in some cases the right drug at the right time, given correctly can turn your life around. (by the way she is a nurse and still wasn't sure what was happening to her)

Wiseguy, I'd love to hear if you went with the IV Rocephin and how you're doing! I'm going to be starting on it tomorrow morning and SO hope this will help turn me around like it has for others...

Unfortuneatly, I have had no change - better or worse. 

Np side effects.

This week is the beginning of my 4th week.  I was awake most of last night questioning my diagnosis because of no herx or change.

It take a day or two to get the hang of doing the infusions but after that no big deal.  Please post on your success.  I love to hear success stories.

Hope all is well with your IV Rocephine, I myself have had a few rounds of IV Rocephine.
The first round was 28 days and had little results, had orals for 3 months after that and
was put back on the IV. The second round was for 90 days and got the most out of it,
It was the only thing that helped with my brain fog, overall pain, and mobility. I actually

thought I was better and could finally go back to work...That lasted 2wks and got sick
again with pain, brain fog, anxiety, pain and other symptoms. So back to the drawing
board. Found a diff Dr and he put me on IV Rocephine and was on it for 8 months and

was at my best during that time. I am currently on 2 diff orals and lots of supplements
and still feel like I am in a movie watching myself. So my favorite med in aiding me to
feel better is the Rocephine. I never had gallbladder issues, that is checked on a wkly

basis along with other blood work the infussion center will take from you when you go
to pick up meds and dressing change. I feel since i suffer with neuro lyme that i will need
from time to time a little Rocephine to get me over that hill of symptoms and on to

feeling better. The Rocephine gets into your blood stream faster and works quicker to
kill the lyme bacteria. As far as the herxing goes I didnt have a ton of noticeable

herxing for some reason its not as intense for me with the rocephine as it is with orals.
Everyone is different and will heal and have diff symptoms as the journey to better
living continues.
