Also at my llmd visit today I told him I wanted to make an appt for hubby to be checked. 

First, he was bitten 2 weeks after myself back in April but showed no rash and no symptoms.  He received the infamous 10 day amox and they sent me some too.  Mighty nice of them!

He has had NONE of the symptoms I have, not even the fatigue.  He goes and goes and goes.

Matter of fact he takes good care of me, bless his heart!

well he had already taken an Igenex test and was negative.  He saw the same llmd as I did for my first one.  That dr saw the scratch marks on him but since the neg report, he didnt treat him.

Well I dont know much but I was real concerned that his igm test was positive for 41 and ind for 31 and 34.  It seemed suspicious.

Either way I kept track of whatever he said was hurting.  Mostly it was his knees, and tendons behind knees, some heart pains, shoulder and above his kidney.  Also he said he felt like he had plantar fasciatis.  Well these scratch marks kept coming back on that same arm and in the same spot.  it was weird.  One time it actually had a pin hole in it and it bled.  Then the other day it actually started in his other arm as well.  So glad I had taken pictures of the bite and scratches along the way.

I asked the dr if he felt based on that if I should bring him.  He says with a test like that, he would most definitely feel comfortable treating.  He says he can easily tell bart by the rashes but couldnt say for sure about the bart unless he saw it.

Then I showed the picture and he says  oh my!  It sure does look like bart!  So now I worry that it has been over 5 months since he was bit and with no medicine except for the silver biotics I suggested he take! 

I think I should have more insistent that he get treated.  I feel sooooo guilty that I have been treated since July and there he is getting worse and worse all these months.

I just cannot believe that we both now have to deal with this crap.  unreal.

Now it is going to be mid November til he can get in.  Does anyone have any ideas what I can suggest to him to help him until then?  Doxy?  I still have some left.  natural supps? 

The only thing he knows about all this is what I tell him.  He doesn't do computers.  So now I must make sure I take good care of him.

Oh no Scorp10!

We want our mates to understand what we are going through -- not to actually go through it with us! My husband and my dog have kept me company in this as well.

Now, you know we can't tell you to how to treat your husband's disease, but I can tell you what not to do! While you have doxy, do you have enough for a month and at a strong enough dose? You don't want to just stir things up and make him miserable without doing some real good.

Natural treatments don't pose a problem, but what would probably serve him best for this month is to get his immune system boosted with supplements and nutrition and get him used to whatever lifestyle changes he needs to make.

Maybe printing out some good information would help him.

So sorry to hear about your husband. My husband has also been diagnosed as has my son. It is just mind boggling to me how it is almosst impossible for all of us to get bitten by ticks that carry the same disease while the rest of the world is carrying on just fine. I hope you are both headed in the right direction as I believe we all are. Have a great day.

Here's the good news, Scorp!
You caught it!!! He didn't have to go for many years wondering what was going on and having all the doc telling him to 'buck up' or what ever!! Now he will be getting treatment in a month rather than years down the road!

There are a lot of things that he can do with this month of waiting!!! Get him detoxing, drinking plenty of lemon water, dry skin brushing, doing the detox baths, maybe even a sauna if you have access to one!!

A good multi vitamin and multi mineral supplement would be very helpful for him to start, as well as Vitamin E, B complex, and maybe some vitamin C even.

Rather than seeing this as you were getting treatment while he was getting worse, see it as you were the 'guinea pig' for figuring out how to apply this info! Now you have an understanding that you wouldn't have had when you first were diagnosed!!

Please be sure to let us know how things are going for both of you now!!

Thanks Trav!  and good points.  I am getting him onto the vitamins.  the water drinking is going to be a battle.  he thinks he should live and hydrate on coffee alone!

I think if the two of you together can 'do the detox' together, then that will be the best thing for him before your appointment. He'll be in a good rhythm for when he starts on meds. He can also begin to change up his diet, eliminating sugar, caffeine, alcohol, dairy, and perhaps wheat/gluten as well.

And I'd also mention that any household projects, cleaning, etc, if you're gonna do it, do it now. There won't be much energy left for that stuff when you're both in treatment.

When I had friends visit a couple of weeks back, we cooked a ton and filled the freezer, so that there was lots of healthy food available for me to see me through the rough patches.

As for you, please don't blame yourself for not acting sooner. You did everything you could, which was monitor and suggest, and when it became evident, you acted. That sounds like absolutely the right thing to do.

My favourite freezer foods (warning, I'm a vegetarian):

Thai or Indian curry with quinoa. Sometimes I freeze the curry separate in a big batch, other times I use meal-sized tuppies with quinoa for when I know I don't have the energy to fuss.

Most any soup or chili will work. Potato-kale from Moosewood's cookbook is a fave, loaded with veg.

Baked black beans with chipotle sauce. I don't eat canned beans, I'm a hippie that way, but soaking beans takes forethought, which I don't always have in abundance!

Individual lasagna pieces are also great. (I used vegan cheeses.) I don't, but quiche would work as well.

And I used to keep a "burger box" with mushroom-hazelnut burgers, lentil burgers, etc. I would make them and let them cool, then individually wrap them in saran wrap to ward off freezer burn.

The only thing I've found that I don't like to freeze is tofu, the texture changes, and ditto for zucchini, so I avoid those in the curries.


Some of the foods only require rice/quinoa to be a complete meal, others need some fresh veg to round it out (like a chili). I do also keep a bag of frozen spinach or something as an emergency stash of veg for my meals.

The only catch is that once something has been in the freezer for a few weeks, it really is a block of ice, so you can't just pull it out at 5 PM and eat at 6. But I'll look at my week ahead and see the days when there is almost no chance I will be able to cook, such as when I have to drive for doc appts, ironically when I have to grocery shop, or have plans with friends for two straight nights, then I know I will be wiped by the end of it.

Mmmmm I'm hungry now!
