when to test infant for LD???

I had my baby a week ago! Her name is Abigail and she is wonderful! I was wondering if anyone knew how long I need to wait to have her tested. I didnt know if a certain time frame is required for antibodies to show up, if she has any??? I have the test form, I just need to know if I need to test her now or wait a little bit. Please tell me what you know. Thanks

stutter - congrats!!!!!! If you have active Lyme antibodies, then the baby might need testing as it woulod make sense the antibodies/markers were transferred to her. I'd ask the doctor though - not sure how this translates...

My son is 18 so this is ancient information. I was told that he would still have my antibodies for up to 3 months so I should wait until he was about 3 months old before testing unless there was reason to believe he had an active infection before then.

Hopefully someone will have more recent info for you!

Congratulations. What a beautiful name! That is an interesting question. I don't think it would hurt to have her tested immediately and also think the antibodies may be stronger in the first couple months. Enjoy your precious gift.

Congratulations!!! Happy dance time!!! woo-hoo!!!

What a beautiful name to go with what I am sure is a beautiful little girl!

I tried to research this some for you, but all that I came up with is most everyone waits for symptoms to appear, unless you had the cord blood saved and tested, or the placenta. Sorry.

I did read that there were quite a few babies born to those who were in treatment and months/a couple of years later those children still hadn't shown any symptoms, so we'll hope for the best for you and little Abigail!!
