Thank you for the kind words of encouragement everybody! I think I have been down these past couple of days because my period has been very bad (TMI I know). Usually it's very light and short and it's gotten shorter and shorter over the past few years but now that i'm on the abx LOOK OUT. I don't know if that's a sign of healing but it's like my body is making up for all of the easier periods ;) It's just giving me terrible mood swings.

I have never bled this long before in my life! I guess I should go to a gyno

I used to have those nice short periods way back when! I used to always feel so sorry for those that had to deal with the heavier periods. I'm pretty sure t hat Lyme affects that as well, so that could be a reason why now that you're on abx this is happening.

Maybe this site will help you to determine if you should spend the money seeing your Gyno, or if you need to get used to what's now going on:

You guys are so supportive and helpful. I'm very thankful that there is a place like this where I can come and not feel so alone.

I recommended my family watch Under Our Skin and once they did they all really understood just how debilitating this disease can be.

I'm definitely herxing these days. I can feel it in my brain. It's so bad right now. I got diagnosed with Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome today as well. Looks like the Lyme has damaged my autonomic nerve

Oooooh, seewhat,

So sorry you are not feeling well (I know, that's quite an understatement for what you are going through). I'm glad you are seeing some response to your treatment.

I've had some intermittent problems with my autonomic nerve and know how scary it is -- hold on!! Hey, do you think the doctors actually believe that putting a really long name on something they can't do anything about really helps?!!

Get lots of good rest and keep telling yourself what my doc says: The worse you feel now, the better you will feel in the long run!

Did you mean you were diagnosed with Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome or POTS?? If so, then that is actually a rather common thing with those infected with TBI's. I only have bouts of it now. This should resolve as you continue your treatments.

As for your head, are you using the detox instructions found in the "New to Lyme?" thread? Detoxing is an amazing tool in our arsenal - although many of the LLMD's don't encourage and even sometimes discourage their patients from doing -this I just don't understand. Detoxing has been a life saver for many of us here on this forum! It's easy enough to do, although I do want to caution you to start off very slowly. Start off with only very warm water and only stay in the water for about 7 - 10 minutes to start with. Build up to the 20 - 30 minute soak slowly or you could herx from detoxing as well.

Other important parts of detoxing are drinking as close to 8 - 8 ounces of lemon water each day and be sure to dry skin brush daily!! These simple things can really make a difference in your treatment experience.

Some thing to remember - lots of things that Lyme is affecting in your body are not necessarily permanent. I lost all of my short term memory and most of my long term memories - but I am sooo blessed as to have both being restored!! I also have many other things that are starting to resolve as well, so stick to your treatment, let us help you get through the rough patches and you could be amazed at the healing power of your body!!

Yes I had a tilt table test yesterday and it confirmed the POTS. It was scary I almost passed out! It really shook me up but the doc prescribed beta blockers so I have to start taking those too.

I've definitely been doing the detox baths and dry skin brushing as well as the lemon water. I pushed it too hard too fast with the baths though. I started doing them every day for about half and hour and after about the third day I herxed so bad, it was almost like a seizure. It scared me so bad so I stopped the bathes for a few days. I'm glad to hear that I should only do 8 to ten minutes at first. I think that water was also a little too hot. I'll try again!

It's been hard these days because i'm having random anxiety and mood swings as well as intrusive thoughts. It makes me feel like i'm going crazy and I start having obsessive thoughts that maybe i'm going insane and will hurt someone as i've heard of lyme making people aggressive. I know I never would but my brain is so messed up lately; it literally feels like it's burning sometimes. I just hope that means the lyme is getting out of my brain!

If those periods of anxiety, mood swings and/or intrusive thoughts become concerning to you, talk it over with your LLMD. There are medications that can be very useful even in the short term.

I've gone through a couple of bout of Lyme rage -it's not something to mess around with if you notice that it has become kind of uncontrollable. Not all that feel 'aggressive' with Lyme go into Lyme rages though. I don't work outside the home, so I always had a plan of action when the rages hit, but it's definitely not something to fool with. Fortunately, Hubby learned pretty quick to let me "do what I had to do" and not get in my way, so that the anger wasn't turned toward him.


Good to hear that you have started detoxing! I reacted pretty bad when I first started detoxing as well, that's why I caution everyone LOL! Ease into them and you will most likely soon see a difference!
