I am going to be getting one in the next few weeks and wondered how many of you use them. I am going with Medic alert because of how their system is set up. The ID contains a number that corresponds to your file in their database. It's kind of neat, you call them and fill out your profile with all your current meds and allergies. The only issue I may encounter is the fact that I am nickel sensitive. They told me the only metals that are 100% nickel free are the 14k gold IDs at $1,000 a pop shocked Think I will take my chances with the stainless steel lol

I didn't do anything like that because my meds were changing too often for me - I know, I'm lazy! I do however carry one that tells of my penicillin allergy!

If you are good at keeping up with the changing data, it would be a good idea - but in my opinion - if a person doesn't keep up with changing the info every time you have a medication change, you could be in trouble if something happens as the emergency worker will just assume that it's up to date.

I have two new allergies and 3 medications that I now take. One is penicillin and the other is gluten. I think it would probably be to my benefit to get one so I don't accidentally get poisoned, ya know :D

I think so too. now I just have to get over the fact it's going to cost me $110 to get everything I need shocked LOL ah such is the price of health...

Wow! smhair I had no clue that the price had gone up that much!! Seems like us being ill is a money maker for some! I still feel like we need to do what we can though.

Well, it is a slight savings, that price is for 3 years and includes the bracelet itself.

Well if you figure that the actual cost of the bracelet is probably only about $10 (I'm being very generous!), that's a little over $33 per year for their services! Not so bad.

That sounds like a good idea to get.  I wonder if one could put that there should be no steroids given.  Or is that not something they likely to give anyway?

considering 3 years, that doesnt seem too bad I guess.

I would definitely get a "No steroids" or even go so far as to have a "steroid allergy" added in!
