Where is the bad taste coming from??

Ugh, I get this awful taste in my mouth after taking my meds in the evening. I don't even know how to describe it. I don't know if it's from the antibiotics (Biaxin generic), or the sleeping pill Ambien. I used to think it was the vitamins but I haven't taken them yet. Does anyone else get this from anything? I even had a little bit of chocolate and a full glass of water after my meds, and that nasty taste has come right back. It's not on the tip of my tongue, mostly the sides, and a little in the back. Geez, and I haven't even started my full treatment yet. I can just imagine all of the questions I'll have popping up then.

Biaxin will give you a "bottom of the bird cage" taste and/or metallic taste.

I'm taking Biaxin too.  It really gives me a bad taste in the mouth a couple of hours after taking it-- delayed reaction.  Yuckky.

There are a few abx that leave a bad taste in your mouth. I find following the dose with a little food or chocolate helps, or a swig of kefir (though dairy is not recommended for some abx).

Pretty minor side effect all in all, but it may put a less than pleasant look on your face!

Ya biaxin gives me a weird taste in my mouth too. I think it's normal.

I'd say it's probably the biaxin. I can't take it because I'm allergic but tindamax and ceftin do the same thing to me...sometimes it's really awful. It's probably not the ambien...I used to take it for years and never had that problem with it...lunesta on the other hand...yuck!!

I'll be on Flagyl and Ceftin soon, so I guess not much to look forward to...though a bad taste may be the least of it.

When I started taking Biaxin, I also had that horrible taste in my mouth. It did eventually go away though thank goodness. I take Lunesta and at first that also gave me a horrible taste in my mouth. I think your body will adjust...
