Its frustrating for me to watch, it reminds me so much of the arrogance of Dr's in treating Lyme disease.. We really need to take legal action to make changes in how Dr's treat Lyme disease!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, bucci. It really is a tragedy when misinformation and controversy stand in the way of the most important thing - recovery.

I agree that the medical community is due for a big change. I think that change is - slowly but surely - starting to happen, as more and more people are throwing their hands up in the air and saying, "what worked in the past isn't working anymore! We need to try something new!".

It can be one of the hardest parts of having a chronic illness - dealing with all the societal issues surrounding it - but what helps me is to always remember that it's not personal. It's easy to be furious with all the doctors who said, "your positive western blot is probably a fluke - you have fibromyalgia - here take this antidepressant (even though you're allergic) and you'll feel better!" but the way I see it, they're only doing what they were trained to do, they only know what they were taught - they don't even realize how insensitive they're being. Of course this doesn't take away from how big a problem it is - because doctors definitely need to be trained better with more up to date information, but as far as not letting it drive me crazy, not playing the blame game helps me tremendously.

And by the way - I've been taking pretty high doses of vitamin C lately and it's definitely been helpful :)

I'm pretty sure when I did IV vit C it wasn't a cocktail (if it was I'd love to know what was in it because they never told me!). I was also given a giant syringe (kinda funny looking, actually) of glutathione afterwards - the combination seemed to do the trick for a while.

I'm pretty sure the reason it helped me was because it dealt with all the viruses in my body - and strengthened my immune system to keep the Lyme bacteria at bay. It took a few years before I spiralled all the way down to the point of looking into an active Lyme infection again.

The main reason I stopped doing IV vit C was because it was getting pretty expensive. I'd been saying I'd love to try it again, and my doctor suggested a much less costly alternative - flushing with ascorbic acid (vit C). It's only been 3 days but there's been a noticable improvement - and it definitely got my immune system going because the first day I had chills for hours!!!!

Just something to think about :)
