Hi Sinthetic,
Welcome to our forum! I am so sorry that you even have a need to be here, but I'm sure glad you found us! We are here to help others understand the info out there about
tick-borne infections, and give support and offer suggestions and our own stories to help others.
If you haven't already, it would be beneficial for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,
"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of relevant information, symptom lists and informative links that have been put together by our members here! Most of those who have read through it have said that it was very helpful!!
We also have a pretty good search function on this forum to help you narrow down your search for information from past posts. We must be our own health advocates now and the best thing to arm yourself with is knowledge about
our infections and the different ways to treat them!
Rarely do primary care physicians know anything about
the seriousness of this set of infections, nor do Infectious Disease docs - if they did this forum wouldn't be so busy! Most of us here started out asking our pcp's and being told not to worry, and some asked more questions and were sent to an Infectious Disease doc or sought out one on our own and got the brush off as well. Now here we are, the sickest we have ever been.
Please don't put that much trust in those who don't know. Check out ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society's) site:
www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/lyme_tips.html and Canada's Lyme Disease site - Canlyme
www.canlyme.com/ Please click on "diagnosis" on the left side of the page.
and California's Lyme Disease Assoc. site:
www.lymedisease.org/home.html - they have a ton of good info.
and New York City's Lyme Disease support group -

It doesn't take 24 hours for bacteria to pass from the tick to the person or animal. All that has to happen is for the tick to get it's stomach contents to your skin. This could have easily happened when you pulled them off of you, or by brushing up against something.
You also happen to be in an area where these types of infections are very prevalent! You can see by the map in this link that New York has
the highest incidence. You will need to copy and paste this link into your browser:
