Hello everyone. I would like to post my test results to get some opinions of whether or not I have lymes, but first my story in a nutshell.


I have been having strange symptoms for about a year and a half. They include: shaky muscles when in use,been diagnosed with ibs, sores that have come and gone, swollen lymph nodes that have come and gone, a feeling of weak muscles, muscle faciliations all over my body, a feeling of not being able to talk, slurred speech, extreme fatigue, dry skin, dizzyness,brain fog, itchy welps that have came and gone, and the symptom that is the hardest for me to deal with is the tongue faciliations and feeling like I can't talk. That is driving me CRAZY. I am in a band and lead worship in front of 750 plus members every Sunday and Speech is the last thing I want to lose. I thought I might have bulbar ALS at first but after the lymes testing, I'm hoping and praying that's what I have (although lymes is not good either but at least it can be treated). Ok, got that off my chest. Here are my western blot test results:

IGM

18 kDa. +

**34 kDa. IND

**41 kDa. IND

**83-93 +

Everything else was negative

IGG Results:

** 41 kDa was the only one and it was ++

I'm fairly new to Lyme as well, but I've been looking into the meaning of specific bands lately. Dr. C.B. has a good article online which describes how to interpret the western blot and which bands are specific to Bb.

Most LLMD's consider an IND to be a positive. Band 41 is common with lyme, but can also be positive for many other bacteria. Band 18 is an outer surface protein. Band 34 is OSP B and is believed to be specific for Bb. Bands 83-93 are related to the DNA or genetic material of Bb.

From the article by Dr. C.B.:

"In my clinical experience, if a patient has symptoms suspicious for borreliosis, and has one or more of the following bands, there is a very high probability the patient has borreliosis."

These bands are 18, 22, 23-25, 28, 30, 31, 34, 37, 39, 41, 83, and 93.

Hello Summer, Yes I am seeing a LLMD.  I received my results from him by mail and he did say that he believes I have Lymes.  I am currently taking antibiotics and had to quit for a few days as my tongue is spasming non-stop and the fatigue seems greater also.  Thank you so much for the quick response!

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum!

The clinical diagnosis is really the more important that your test results, but they certainly support the diagnosis. It sounds like you are in good hands with your LLMD.

What you will want to do know is to detox -- that can help manage the herxheimer reaction (increase of symptoms) that you get while being treated with antibiotics. Have a look at our "New to Lyme?" thread at the top of the forum. There is a whole section on detoxing as well as a lot of other helpful information and resources.
