Yup - I have and if I'm not mistaken it's fairly common. I think it's come up on the forum before if you want to check out the search funtion.

Yes. Lyme reactivated the EBV in me. I had mono when I was 17 and was always told you couldn't get it again (52 now). Lol, it reactivated it in me this past summer. Not sure if it's still active as have not had it tested again. But, like most other things with Lyme, when you successfully treat the Lyme, your body's immune system will take care of the other things (Like EBV).

Yes. I have chronic Epstein-Barr Virus. I also had mono as a teen. You can see what Lyme has done in the 2nd paragraph of my signature. ( The first one, referencing 1972 is a question)

Has anyone ever heard of people taking Valtrex ( I think that is the name?
it is for herpes .)
There is another medication that starts with a V also that I remember reading about
helping with the EBV and they are expensive.
I don't know if insurance would cover it if it was prescribed for EBV?
what about
the HHPV6 ? what is the treatment for that?
I definitely feel more viral some days that others.
I also have Hep C virus and did 10 weeks of inteferon ribaviron in 2005
and it did nothing but make more problems.
so you would think maybe it would clear up the EBV or HHPV6 at least but nothing.

thank you for responding.
I would love to know the percntage of active lyme peope that have active or very high EBV titers.
It is possible chronic EBV is a red flag of another illness such as maybe not limited to lyme.
Too bad we don't have young,
open minded, newly graduated, Drs. doing research and taking on people with infectious disease's.
I'd like to know if George W. Bush has any kind of periodic IV's or anything.
Lol I always want to know the unknowable. I am working on accepting there are some things I will never have the answers too. When Bush was pres and sick someone I think a lt. governor? (do not remember conclusively) did order resarch, as Teas is a non-endemic state : ) I have no idea where the results are,
I ordered my medical rcords and found I had EBV in 2010, and written on it in cursive ink, "she is not aware she has mono." I have not gone through all of them because it upsets me.
My concern now is more for my son, he was successfully treated for lyme. Then in the summer had mono. then the following winter got VERY sick (oh you should have seeb him) he had a very high count EBV.
He was in his last semester showed lab work to his profs and was able to drop statisitics until summer. He quit his job. One of the profs wives is an MD she said "this is not good."
He graduated in May sigma cum laude, ha I can brag here Lol I don't tell my , friends who really know me. Anyway, he is acting weird. Has headaches every day. I have noticed he is very forgetful and always losing things. I do both of these . Does anybody else? Or am I just a born ditz?
We have no ins but I need refills on various things so I do have to make a Dr. appt, I wish she would give me a lab order on my son but she wont. I guess should the job he is doing now fades he could try to get in a free clinic.
I have talked to --- (that's what I hate about
this forum, I am just not one to not use names Ya know ? Lol It just seems so rude but we do need to keep our anonymity (Lol I sliced that word better than a vegomatic could.) Anyway I have talked with my son. He is no dummy. When I brought it up it was obvious he had already entertained this ides i.e. lyme back..
His response was "Mom what good would it do to know,? My.

Rose,
Wow, that is awsome you sone graduated at all never mind with honors.
Have you checked to see if the HLA genetic for mold runs in your family.
has he been tested for this.?? If he does have it and was exposed to mold this could look like a lyme relapse.
go to Shoemaker's website to find out exact testing from Lab corp only.

I was diagnosed with EBV after my Lyme Disease diagnosis. I was never diagnosed with EBV as a child or in my teens and thought maybe the Lyme triggered the EBV.

same here. reactivated EBV, CMV + recent Coxackie.
it does not come as a shock, lyme is immunosupressive and these viruses u usually get very early in life and they survive intracelularily.
