Well I must be a tick magnet. Despite constantly using sprays and doing tick checks, I keep getting them. This one makes 3 (that I know of) attached this year alone. This was a nymph I guess. MUCH smaller than others I've had. No red on it's back like the females. Pretty fat too. I don't know how long it's been there but probably less than 12 hours.

I just started doxy on Friday, so I guess I'm safe for now?

Summer - do you use a spray with at least 20% deet? What state are you in? I now live in Minnesota (but originally from northern Mississippi). I get paranoid about going out around here since MN is a top lyme state.

I live in NJ and we have no woods for blocks and blocks. I found one on my neck not attached thankfully and I was just in our back yard. It's like there parachuting in.

that's such crap..I'm so paranoid lately. Thank goodness you're on meds already. Does that guarantee it's ok? I'd ask my LLMD in case.

I'm in the Northeast. The upper part. I found another 2 attached today. A female adult and either a male or a nymph. I have been using sprays and I didn't even go in the woods today. I walked on a paved road. This is another reason I'm afraid when I'm off antibiotics (for liver enzyme issues).

I'm likely bitten several times per week. I'm going to keep getting re-infected.

They have posters in front of all the hiking trails here too. I've never had this many on me. Usually it's 3-5 between spring and fall. This year I've already had more than 5.

Summer, have you considered getting yourself some Insect Shield clothing? Gander Mountain, as well as other vendors, sell this. The clothing is treated with pymethrin, which repels ticks, and lasts through 70 washings.

I am frequently around cats so I can't have permethrin clothing or use the sprays that contain it. It's extremely neurotoxic and can lead to death in cats that are exposed to it.

I say a nymph tick a couple of weeks ago next to my porch....no woods anywhere around as there are 430 homes in my neighborhood in ATL, GA....Not good....
