After responding pretty poorly to long-term antibiotic therapy, I switched to Buhner's protocol (I had a terrible experience with one of the abx so I'd just had enough and it was time for a drastic change!). The first couple months were extremely helpful, but then I got hit with some stress, on top of cheating as far as avoiding sugar and alcohol, and I think all of those things combined to suppress my immune system. Since Buhner's protocol is targetted at enhancing your immune system's ability to fight the infections, I think managing your stress level is REALLY important.
Are you taking enough of the herbs? Supposedly whereas with drugs overdose is the problem, with herbs it's sort of like if you don't take enough, you might as well not bother. Please don't just increase your herbs because I said that though - obviously consult with your doctor first! What about
the eleuthero? Are you taking the 2:1 tincture? This is the only one I've used - according to Buhner it's the strongest available, and I find it extremely helpful. I'm ordering all of the herbs online on my own so I keep ending up running out of things (it's hard to guage when I'll be out of a tincture, and the eleuthero goes fast!)...I notice right away the difference between taking it and not taking it.
Are you taking the andrographis? I've found it actually helps a bit with anxiety, although it brings on a pretty uncomfortable herx for me at the same time.
Also, you wouldn't happen to be anywhere near NJ, would you? I'm trying to find a practitioner who uses Buhner's protocol, which hasn't been particularly easy!!
