omnicef,timdamax and biaxin...plus culturelle and bifido......advice please!!!!!!!

I was really scared when I first was about to start antibiotics also. I had researched the side effects of all the common lyme meds and I told my LLMD a whole list of ones I was worried about and didn't want to take. He kept me off those until I was more comfortable trying them. I am someone who is typically completely against meds. I have never taken any medications other than very brief courses of antibiotics a few times in childhood.

It got to the point where Lyme and co-infections were causing so much more damage than med side effects would. I was having serious liver enzyme elevations, heart involvement and seizures (off meds).

It's a good idea to start with one antibiotic at a time if they are all new for you, but at the same time, you may want to check with your doctor before going against his advice. The reason for starting slow is to narrow down what's causing an allergy if it happens. That way you won't have to stop everything at once which can be frustrating. I also have severe allergies/anaphylaxis so I know how scary that can be. Herxes can mimic anaphylaxis (especially babesia and bartonella herxes which cause a lot of breathing issues/air hunger and throat problems).

I have a pretty bad case of Lyme and several co-infections so I was VERY worried about getting any worse. For me, the herxes are like severe flu's and an increase in my "normal" symptoms. So I get some pain, twitching, numbness, and lots of fatigue, chills and achiness. Remember that if you get worse, you can always call your doctor and ask about taking a med break, increasing detox with glutathione, chlorella, alka seltzer gold or backing down the dose and ramping up.

The meds that you will be taking are ones I would be comfortable with. I know that probably doesn't help much since I'm not a doctor and everyone reacts differently, but all those meds were on my personal "safe" list. I haven't tried omnicef yet because of an allergy to amoxicillin, but I have done tindamax and biaxin and I did not have any serious herxing or side effects on those.

I am no expert, but since you have had anaphalaxis, you may want to ask your pharmacist how fast you would react to each med with an allergic reaction, if you should happen to be allergic -- and ask him as if you were taking each med one at a time.

Then what I would do is take the first med for two days, if nothing bad happens, add the next med for two days, and if nothing bad happens, then add the third med.

Just a thought. Then if you did react, you would have a better idea which med was causing it. I would think that the reactions you had previously have nothing to do with antibiotic reactions or your doctor would not have prescribed them, or would have cautioned you to proceed carefully.

I am on double dose of doxycycline plus rifampin and nothing bad has happened except upset stomach. I am also taking two different probiotics that are much stronger than the ones you are on.
