best probiotics...making sure I am taking what I need

I am on 100mg Doxy 3x a day, tindamax 3 days a week and omnicef 300mg 2x a day...Dr told me to culturelle and any other probiotic that has bifido in it. I am only taking these once a day...should I be taking them 2-3 hours after each dose of antibioitcs?

Yes, Debbie. You should take your probiotics 2 -3 hours after you take the abx to help replenish the good bacteria that the abx has wiped out in your digestive tract. Be sure to take around 30,000 units each time, as you are taking some high powered abx.

should I take the probiotics only once a day? My LLMD told me only once a day...seems like it should be 2 hours after each dose?

Bifido is 1.5 billion
taking these 1x a day

Yes, it would be best to replenish the bacteria after each dose of abx. I may have gotten the numbers wrong on the amount of units to be taken, as I'm pretty tired tonight. Sorry, hopefully someone else will come along shortly to answer that for you.

My doc has me taking my probiotics once a day too. At night before bed on an empty stomach. Mine has 16 different strains and its 40 billion.

Every time you take antibiotics you kill off the good flora in your gut. You need to replenish them after each dose -- just wait 2-3 hours. It really does help.
