There are a number of natural approaches to lyme disease that you can do on your own (with careful research, or with the help of an alternative health practitioner - a naturopath, herbalist, etc.) I use the Buhner protocol, along with antibiotics and other medical treatment, and have had some pretty great results with it. You can learn more about
it at
buhnerhealinglyme.com/ and/or get his book Healing Lyme - whether you use the protocol or not I think it's a really helpful book. There's also the Cowden protcol and the Zhang protocol - I haven't used either of these two, but we have members here using those herbs with good results as well. There are plenty of herbs and natural remedies that are really helpful - you can do your own research or look through old posts here using the search function, and of course feel free to ask any questions you have along the way!
There is some information the "New to Lyme?" thread about
detoxing - a lot of us on here use things like epsom salt baths, saunas, and dry skin brushing. I've become a little obsessed with detoxing these days, so I try out lots of new things all the time, alternating them all around. You can also try oil pulling, juicing and/or eating a very clean, possibly organic diet, lymphatic drainage, coffee enemas/colon hydrotherapy (that one usually takes a while to get comfortable with!), there are plenty of teas you can add into your diet to support detoxification, and probably most important, limit the toxins you put in, because they all need to come out, and with lyme a big problem is that we're burdened with extra toxins from the waste left behind when bacteria die, so generally the less toxins your body has to eliminate, the better you'll feel and the stronger your body will be to heal itself.
I've learned so much from our members here, and I'm sure you will too. It all gets overwhelming sometimes - just take it one step at a time.
