So this started last year when I eventually first found out I had Lyme disease. During the change to fall I started having a hard time breathing and almost hyperventilating. I eventually went to a pulmonologist and they gave my advair.

The Lyme dr I eventually found told me to get of advair because it has a negative affect with one of the meds I was taking. Towards the end of winter I stopped having trouble breathing until now.

Same thing where I have a hard time breathing and tickle in my throat. I went back to the pulmonologist and she told me to get back on the advair. Has anyone had this or does this sound more like allergies? Thanks

Do you know if you are allergic to one of the plants that are in bloom right now? In my area (northern Arkansas), rag weed is in bloom (UGH! eyes) and I have a bad allergy to it!!

The other thing is that you are taking corticosteroids - the Fluticasone in the Advair. Steroids suppress the immune system, allowing these infections to spread unchecked. So you should see if there's another way to help you when you have these issues.

Babesia is well known for causing breathing issues. Do you know if you have this infection?

The dr I'm seeing believes I have Bart but non babesia. I asked the pulmonologist about the steroid and she said it was isolated to my lungs so it shouldn't affect anything

Although I don't know what all may be going on for you, and I in no way wish to offend, but what goes in the lungs affects the whole body. It would be a good idea if you would do some research on this. Steroids are often taken orally for lots of reasons other than stomach issues, because they will travel system wide.

We also know that steroids inhibit the immune system, which is opposite of what we are trying to do as we treat these infections. It allows the bacteria better access to organs, joints, tissues and even the brain.

I'm sure others will be along to give you more suggestions!

The doctor said that the steroid would be focalized in my lungs and not spread through my body I didn't say it

Yeah I live in Minnesota. I hadn't used a inhaler since I was about 12 and now I'm 26. I used advair and a inhaler last fall for awhile till I was told to get off it cause of a adverse reaction to a antibiotic I was starting up.

In response to breathing problems, I had severe breathing issues for 3 years plus. My internist has given me Advair every single fall and spring when the cough and breathing issues were the worst. Six months ago I went to a pulmonary doctor who could not figure out what was wrong with me. Just 5 months ago, I finally found a DO/Naturopath who has helped me more than any doctor yet. She put me on Doxy for 3 months and then changed me to Zithromax and Rifampin at the same time to try to kill possible bartonella and/or babesia. After being on these two drugs for 8 weeks total, the cough and breathing problems completely disappeared and have not come back yet. At that end of 8 weeks, she put me back on Doxy, which I am currently on. The breathing is still totally normal, no cough or tickles at all. She told me that Rifampin is used to treat TB, so that's why she tried it. I'm guessing that's the drug that kicked it. Hope this might help someone else out there.
