Hi I was just wondering if anyone new what the maximum dosage of Ciprofloxacin is when treating Bartonella?

Swashpro what treatment are you on.After month of neuro symptoms and bones clicking after a recent stay in a tick area all my gps said i was crazy and it was in my head.

I Knew it wasnt.I then found out that my aunt had it and thats where i was staying in Dorset.Went BS and was diagnosed on symptoms and then my tests come back poss.Ive been 8weeks on doxy with small improvement BS are saying i need IV.I dont have the money to go BS anymore.

Took the results to 3 gps and there all messing me about saying we dont think you have it.Really messing with my future.My BS treatment has now run out and im stuck with no more money and no more treatment.How much do you pay a month for your treatment.It annoys me that BS said you need IV if you stay on doxy theres not much hope.

So angry i phoned them 2weeks back to get someone to ring me about other treatment methods.My test came back negg for Bartonella but im convinced i have it as have all these white stretch mark lines on my back and depression and anxiety not lifting.Im not even herxing anymore feels like these doxy arnt doing much.

I have a similar story to yours, once I realised I had Lyme I visited a Dr David Owen in Cardiff who has an interest in tick born diseases. He placed me on Doxy for 3 months for my Lyme and Ciprofloxacin for 1 months for my Bartonella. The doxy helped a little but in the end was not working, the Ciprofloxacin however completely got rid of my symptoms while I was on them so it just goes to show you must take co-infections as serious as the Lyme itself. At present I am self medicating, as like you my money situation is too bad for professional treatment. I am currently treating my Bartonella mostly as I feel this is stopping me from treating my Lyme, and I am taking 500mg of Cipro twice a day in combination with tinidazole, the tiniziadole is another anti parasitic drug mostly used to treat Lyme bacteria in its cyst form but can also be used for Babesia, im not sure if I have Babesia but its good to know its getting treated if I have. I personally would say that you need to evaluate your symptoms and work out what antibiotic treatment is best for you. If you do have bart I would say in my personally opinion that it should be treated with just as much importance as Lyme. I know two website that i trust for antibiotics, one is alldaychemist and the other is International Drug Mark. Im sorry to hear your treatment has run out with Breakspear as its nice to have professional advice, but in my opinion any treatment is better than none, wouldnt you agree. The antibiotics are not that expensive on these websites, I think alldaychemist is the cheaper one. I have had Lyme and co-infections now for around three years and have been treated on and off for over a year now. If you do self medicate its a good idea to get your liver checked by you GP regular.

Yh deffo i agree with you.I am self treating myself with amox that my friend mum has obtained form me but doesn't feel like its doing much.So what will i need if i want to treat myself for lymes and bart? I no i need 400mg doxy a day and what for bart?how much will that cost a month?also don't i need a cyst breaker.This is so saddening i have this disease and not under no professional medical care.Ive been that angry Ive even had thoughts of putting my own iv line in or getting my own injections.I'm only 22 and don't want this to be something bigger then it could have been if i was treated properly straight away.When you say your symptoms went what sort of symptoms did you have and what ones still remain.I wouldn't mind to much about the physical symptoms but its the mental ones that's really got me.Like Ive gone into a dreamland and in a zombie like state just not my old self emotionally numb.Cant remember the day or time just my brains away and i want it back.Why was your gp also against treating you.Do you think i should give up trying to get help from the nhs.I received a letter back today from my MP as i emailed him and he said he has sent a letter to NHS south London to find out what can be done about this.

I dont know what the prob is i have every lymes disease symptoms,had all the rashes,my aunt had it,stayed in Dorset in countryside,Worked on farm for 5months,Poss igm cdc igg neg 3bands poss and two ind.Lymes doc says deffo poss and not all people get poss igg where our immune systems are so compromised.I have lymes specific bands which you can only get if you have been in contact with the disease.I have improved on antibiotics and i herx.I dont think there's any question about me having lymes it really annoys me all the signs are there.On the nhs website it says if the patient has lymes and has arthritis symptoms and neurological then they should have IV.Every bone in my body clicks and grinds its horrible.And my gp said its normal lol.I said its not normal she said well it obvs didn't happen over night it you must have had it for years i said no it has happened over night.

Every time i show gps thing from BS its like they immediately get angry.Sorry i could ramble on all day about this just so angry and frustrated.So sick but having to focus every lil bit of energy on fighting for help.

Well as far as my symptoms go I would say they mirror your exactly. I began neuro symptoms like vertigo, twitching fingers and muscles which was quickly followed by knee crunching along with pretty much every other joint in my body. I was diagnosed with arthritis and MS. I then did my own research and came up with the Lyme diagnosis which was later confirmed by a positive IGG/IGM. I also had large stretch marks all over my stomach and side which were a clear indication of Bartonella. My cognitive symptoms have also been severe, OCD anxiety brain fog unable to comprehend anything and depression. I would say with this being the UK we both have a very similar case of Lyme and Bart. I am only 24 by the way so also similar in that way and I contracted it when I was around 21/22 years old. So lets just say I completely understand and sympathise with what your going through as I am going through the exact same thing. As for treatment I would say Ciprofloxacin is good for bartonella but you need to be careful what other meds you take with it, I only take cipro with tinidazole which is a cyst buster so yes you do need one but you can also use FLAGYL with cipro I think, but just double check that. You can also use Azithromycin and doxy in combination, azith is good for bart and doxy 400mg is a good dose for lyme (which is what I was on originally). Another one is rifampin, which is used in combination with doxy (I think) which is a good one for bart. Those are the three best options I am exploring at the moment and I would suggest you look into them. I am currently not spending that much although it is still too much but I am paying no more than £40 a month on antibiotics but I also use some vitamins but they arent that expensive. Have a look on alldaychemist at the prices and you will get a good idea of what its going to cost you, delivery is up to a couple of weeks though so if you need meds you mite want to do it sooner rather than later. GPs in terms of lyme disease have no idea what they are doing, they wern't trained in it thats the problem so untill you can afford some professional treatment do you research get online and get yourself as well as you possible can with the money you have. My GPs wernt againt my treatment they just didnt know what it was and I just new even if they were in favour of treating me the treatment wouldnt be sufficient anyway. Any questions feel free to ask.

Have you all checked into Dr. Burrascano's paper, "Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease"? In it he goes into not only the recommended amounts of abx for Lyme, but for the most common co-infections as well. Here's a link to his paper, but it's also listed in the "New to Lyme?" thread as well:

You could also use the natural protocols to heal from these infections. The herbs are generally easy to get on the internet.

Yh thanks Traveler have looked at it before but forgot all about it to be honest.Has your join crunching improved at all.I felt when i was on the 8weeks of doxy my bone crunching was improving and i had much more energy.I managed to take myself shopping after months of staying in.But now i feel like im falling back in that hole,sleeping all the time again.£40 a month is much better then over £200 a month.So the lymes and the Bart can be treated at the same time?Yh when all this started my gp ended up sending me to a psychiatrist they diagnosed me with severe anxiety and Somatization.I remember i used to tell them every day im sure ive got this lymes disease thing,they looked at me like i was mad and just prescribed me anti-depressants and anti-phycotics.Lucky im not that stupid and didn't take them and thank god i never.Makes me laugh they were chucking me boxes of ant-phycotics but wont give me antibiotics.Can you tell me the exat ones you buy to treat your lymes and bart a month and the dosase.What about Customs?My aunt had lymes disease and got the rash and was treated and is now fine.But i suspect that i got bit between July and December last year.Now when i remember back i had severe headaches when i was in Dorset.I came back and was fine but was going out drinking a lot and slowly getting iller and iller till i became unfuctional.8 weeks back my legs fels so heavy i couldnt walk and i couldnt talk and i forgot how to do stuff i no its mad.So has your anxiety improved?do you herx much?Also do you get ice cold hands and feet.Apparently i saw the worst doctor at BS and i wonder how much he was trying to get me better or sell me things.

I figured that Burrascano's paper was being thought of, and that's why I thought I'd mention it. If you were trying to use abx to treat yourselves, at least with his paper, you all would have something to help guide you.

I don't know how much it might help, but things aren't any better here in the U.S!! So we're all in the same bucket as far as that goes.

I have used Chinese Medicine to treat my Bartonella and Babesia and "Western Herbs" to treat my Lyme disease - not real sure why they are called "Western" herbs though!! Here is a link to the pdf that has the "Chronic Tonic" that I used to treat my Lyme Disease:

My doc had me fix the tea differently than the instructions on the pdf, but the amounts and the ingredients were the same. You can email me privately if you would like to talk to me more about it or we can discuss it here.

You should be able to order the herbs online without much trouble, although I have no clue about customs for your area.

I used this treatment for 9 months. Most of my Lyme symptoms were put into remission or knocked down so that I could function enough to keep house, keep a nice garden and do some canning this year, and keep and care for 2 nice milk goats, and to be able to play with my two grandsons when they come up. So I would say I've had a really good response.

For my Bartonella infection, I used the whole leaf Hottuynia, same herb but different form than Zhang uses. I responded to that really well also. I used the Houttuynia for 6 months.

When I started my Lyme and my Bart treatments, I couldn't walk or stand more than 10 minutes at a time because my legs hurt so bad and just wouldn't function.My hands and feet were complete icicles all the time. My anxiety, and my depression were controlling my life pretty much, as I stayed home all the time for fear of having something else to deal with.

I did however get treatments to help support my other body functions - thyroid, adrenal, liver, bladder, kidney, and a number of other things, but everything that I've used I'm pretty sure can be bought online as well.

The main reason I stopped treating my Lyme and Bart infections when I did was to go on to treat my Babesia infection which, at that time, was overriding my need to complete the other treatments. My doc told me that because of the herbs that I'd be using, we couldn't treat Babesia while I was in treatment for the other infections.

Can you not order abx from another country? If you wanted to stick to abx, that would be an option.

yh thankyou.I am on the fence when i hear about herbals and stuff i hear a lot of people say you need proper antibiotic treatment.Yh im at that stage now really its took over my life.Lay in bed all day legs feel like they got bricks on hand and feet like ice,tingling and fever its terrible i cant see an end to this...

I would say the 1000mg of cipro is a must and yes you definitely need a cyst busted, flagyl or tinidazaole and im currently not taking doxy as well but if there is no interaction between cipro and doxy then yes I would say that is a good combination for bart and lyme.

No problem, no you dont need a prescription and I have never had any issues with customs and I highly doubt you will, just contact the company and they should sort it I would imagine. Like I said though it should be ok.

Majikz, I'm in no way trying to convince you to use herbals, just let you know that they are another option. There is plenty of evidence that they work, as there are several members here besides myself that are seeing a lot of healing from these infections.

If you want to use abx, there's no hard feelings or anything else, as it's a choice we all must make. I actually started out taking abx for a full year before I switched over to natural medicine. I would, however, suggest that you look into adding some herbals to your abx routine though, as most of the LLMD's are now using some herbals with abx in their protocols to help balance out the treatments.
