Most people are afraid of the unknown, Justme. Lyme disease is a
huge unknown! To add to that the controversy that surrounds it and you have a recipe for disaster for those who won't/can't look into it.
I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with this on top of being ill. It's such a shame. This is part of the reason that some compare what we are going through to what those who were first being diagnosed with AIDS went through with the fight for recognition, understanding and the need to educate others.
If, and I do mean
if -you can get them to educate themselves, then it's possible that you won't be treated this way - but that's kind of a tall order.
Many of us here have lost life long 'friends' and had family members shun us. It's partly because of the mis-information and not being educated about
this disease, but we can't educate everyone. They have to
want to know.
It's best to identify those who are willing to learn about
your infections and educate them. One thing that might be helpful is a site called Lyme Spouse. It was originally created to help spouses understand, but it's grown into a place for all who have a loved one that has these diseases to go to and learn what we deal with. ***I have no connection to this site in any way***
