Went to see my LLMD today. He thinks I have Bart. He's putting me on Bactrim. Continuing on Flagyl, Azithro. and changing Keflex to Ceftin. Is this a good combo. for Bart and Lyme?

I'm on bactrim for Bart but usually bactrim is combined with either a quinolone or rifampin. I think ceftin is much better for Lyme than keflex. Flagyl is the strongest cyst buster and zith is pretty good for Lyme too. Good luck.

OK,Summer. That's what I just read on another site-to combine with quinolone or rifampin. Hmmm?? I wonder if he's just wanting to wait and add one of those in later after making these changes. I have a follow-up in 5 weeks. I did also just read that Zithro, combined w/ Bactrim can work for Bartonella? Have you heard that?

I haven't heard specifically of zith/bactrim, but I'm not in the medical field, I know the combo stuff only from research. Biaxin/bactrim is often used for Bart and Biaxin is very similar to Zith. Zith is also used quite often in a combo with Rifampin for Bartonella. Plus zith serves more than one purpose in being mild to moderately active against bart and babesia as well as being quite effective against the cell-wall deficient form of Lyme.


He may just want to see how you do first on this combo. I've usually done better herxing-wise when I added things in slowly one at a time. I recently made several changes at the same time and had a MASSIVE herx like I've never had before. It almost gave me a complete breakdown.

I won't comment on the antibiotics as there are different ones that may be effective against Bart.
What I would add is that if a combo works it should get rid of this co-infection in a matter of weeks, unlike Borrelia or Babesia which are much harder and require longer treatments.

From personal experience, you can achieve faster results by combining antibiotics with enzymes like Boluoke and herbals like Knotweed can help a lot. more on this here http://buhnerhealinglyme.com/category/co-infections/bartonella/
