My memory is failing me a bit, but I think that I read that lyme spirochetes have been found in both placental material and stillborn fetuses.
Lyme spirochetes are essentially a soft tissue organism. If they can burrow into cartilage and even bone, then it seems logical that they can go anywhere in the body.
Having said that, please, do not despair. It is NOT a foregone conclusion that a baby born of a mother having lyme would have the disease.
