Babesia treatment experience?

I've been in treatment for Babesia for about 1 1/2 month (I know not long enough). After 3 weeks I gave up or took a break from Mepron/Zith, took about a week off to detox and then went totally the herbal route - Z's protocol to be exact.

Initially the die off was massive (major herxing) and now it's better but still going through frequent herx.

Prior to all this, I was on a year of lyme and bart treatment and to me Babesia seems much worse (or at least I have quite a pathegen load, maybe I've had it for a long time). 

Questions? has anyone been on Z's protocol, how long and what do you think about it. 

I think for me it's working but I'm in for a long haul. Slow and steady.

What were some of your symptoms and when you started to get better did symptoms go away one at a time?

I have this eye pressure/floater that is really annoying and affects my balance. Since this is CNS, maybe this takes awhile to go away? Has anyone experienced this and did it take time to go away?

How about urinary tract? I read that through massive dieoff, not only affect liver and spleen but the kidneys/bladder have problems too. Any help for the kidneys/bladder (actually acupuncture and massage of the kidney merdian does help).

Well as with you all, I am sick and tired. Oh did I mention how tired I am? wow.

I'd love to hear your experience with Babesia and treatment. I know there is hope for the future but this bug is bad. thanks!

Can you explain what Zhang's protocol for Babesia is? Although I use TMC, I don't know if my practitioner followed Zhang's protocol or not. I was in treatment for Babesia for about 9 months - but it's unknown how long I've had the infection or how many times I've been infected with it (too many ticks attached over the years).

I know I had a heck of a time as well! Herxing was pretty hard to get through, and I thought the treatment was never going to make a difference, then suddenly, I was feeling better! LOL!

I had these symptoms: fatigue, night sweats, chills, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, headache, dark urine (off and on), muscle pain, joint pain, nausea, and even some jaundice.

Now I have some fatigue, but attribute that to my Lyme infection, as well as the remaining muscle issues and joint pains (Lyme arthritis).
The symptoms didn't seem to be going away until right at the end of my treatment, then they went away fairly quickly, but pretty much one at a time.

I did a whole lot of detoxing while I was in treatment for Babesia too, although I never seemed to 'catch up'.

I had urinary incontinence of all types, stress, urge, mixed, and overflow. My TMC practitioner had me start on what is known as Cuscute seed formula, and that has done wonders for me! If your Practitioner doesn't know what is in this formula, I would be happy to email it to you - just email me and ask!

Accordingly to the Zhang protocol (he has a book for lyme and babesia treatment, very good by the way) there are a variety of recommended herbs to take can be as short as 40 days as long as 80 for babesia.  May even be longer.  This sound too good to be true but I guess I will see.

These are the formulas for babesia

I take artemesia 2 formula which is the main one for Babesia

Allicin (a strong garlic formula) for all sorts of bugs

Circulation P - which helps the liver/spleen and microcirculation (it has peach kernal, safflower,cnidium, PAL root, chinese licorice and others.

AI #3 -  which helps the herxing mainly for pain and discomfort of herx which has mucana,tutcher, wilson stem and other stuff.

He also has formulas to treat lyme and coinfections and mentions that this treatment may take up to 9 months or more.

But the main thing is that they are more adaptagens working with your immune system killing the bugs, rebuilding it and  restoring it as TCM does.  It's a very interesting presentation in his book about TCM, MCM and WM  explaining that TCM/MCM uses herbs to "dispel the evil" and support the righteous (immunity) where as WM just bombs the evil.

I find this all very interesting -- even other treatments antibiotic and herbs, rife,  homeopathy etc.

My LLMD supports Zhangs work, so I am giving it a try.

I just wanted to know if anyone else out there is on this protocol.

I know some folks just take the Artemisia 2 but he recommends the others as well.

Thank you for sharing that info with me, Ecotick! There are so many books out there that one could buy in order to figure out how to treat these infections, and I just kind of 'fell into' being treated with TMC, so I didn't research it and come to the conclusion that's how I wanted to treat. LOL! This was the only doc in my area that was willing to treat me!

Although I'm using a few things that are similar, they aren't the same. An interesting note - I'm using Artemisia (also known as Sweet Annie) in my Lyme herbs, and they work well for me.

I do hope that others will chime in here as well for you!

Started dr zhang protocol last week. Babesia herxing non stop. Talked to dr. Zhang he said artemesia 3x day and circulation p. I am staying the course-it's tough but is penetrating the areas attacked by babesia. Will update. I was doing great with recovery but relapsed after hysterectomy.

Suelore, please keep us posted ...

I spoke with Dr Zhang on Friday, so I will begin the babesia treatment from him sometime this week ( when the herbs arrive )

In addition to Artemisiae and Circulation P, I am supposed to take AI#3 and Allicin

I will stay on this for as long as it takes, however, tolerating treatment has been my problem now for 4 years - so I am trying to prepare myself ....
