Nipple pain and discharge, anyone? :-(

I would suggest hat you call your LLMD first and see what they say - breast pain/nipple discharge are symptoms of Lyme disease. If you go to our "New to Lyme?' thread, to the Master Symptom List, you will see it listed there.

And by the way - that's not a 'gross' symptom!! It just is what it is - a problem you are having!!

It's just all so embarrassing sometimes! My poor husband has to hear it all, with a look of horror across his face, hee hee ;)

WWJD at least you got a good laugh out of that one! My OB was very much the same way after my son was born. I once told him my breasts were engorged and I was having trouble breastfeeding, and he said he couldn't do anything about it. he said sometimes had "twinges of pain" too, and that I should just deal with it. All the while my boobs were ten times their normal size and hard as a rock. Yikes! My boobs hurt just thinking about it. Dismissive doctors can be very frustrating.

I'll call my OB Mon morning. I'm not an "established" patient with an LLMD yet, so I doubt they'd be able to advise me over the phone.

Fluid in breast not related to breastfeeding can be dxed as Galactorrhea, can be due to nothing or hormonal imbalances. It is possible to have galactorrhea and not have any other problems. I had it for many years before I breastfed, or was sick, so discharge doesn't necessarily mean another problem.

The LLMD may test your Prolactin levels to see if that hormone is elevated causing the leaking. So many hormones change as we age, and Lyme can cause hormonal influxes too. Also, thyroid disease or thyroid dysfunction can cause galactorrhea, so if you haven't had thyroid levels checked recently, you may want to ask you LLMD to check those just in case.
