Bloopy,
I don't know enough about Thyroid function and its tests to be able to intelligently answer your question. However, I have been intensely researching hormonal issues and glands during the last couple of weeks.
I have learned a few principles from reading articles written by researchers and practicing physicians that I feel are more well-informed than most physicians.
Here are some of the principles that I have gleaned from my readings.
1) Thyroid tests are not always reliable, and they often do not tell the whole story.
2) It is ill advised to place a high importance upon any particular Thyroid test result such as T3 in isolation from other factors.
3) Thyroid function is closely associated with that of the Hypothalmus-Pituitary-Adrenal Axis (HPA).
Here is a link to a well informed MD that specializes in hormonal issues. I also read a book written by an MD and researcher that he endorses. The book is entitled "The Safe Use of Cortisol" by William Jefferies, MD. This author posits that Thyroid issues must not be considered in isolation, but rather, they must be considered only in conjunction with hypothalmus/pituitary/adrenal issues. I will have a lot more to say about these issues in the months ahead. I would read everything on this doctor's website and read the book that I mentioned. It will change your paradigm and probably your health. I would be remiss if I did not tell you that Dr. Jernigan loaned me his copy of the book to read while I was at his clinic.
