After my CD57 count came back at 28, my doctor said he planned on testing me for Lyme. But he wanted to wait as I had been sick with pancreatitis and he couldn't treat me until I was completely over that. So, I begged him to at least test me so that I might finally have an answer about what has been ailing me for 8+ years, and he said yes! He said I have to go through two weeks of doxycycline first, then he will run the tests. Thank God, things are finally moving forward. I know there is still a long road ahead, but at least I'm going somewhere.

Hey Anduncan,

Congrats on your diagnosis! I see that you have epilepsy.. I had it for 18 years. Suddenly I get treated for lyme and 1.5 years into my treatment and the seizures are gone. I am even entirely off my seizure meds and have been for 14 months. If only they knew that I had lyme for over 25 years, then I never would have gone through the epilepsy.

Thank you! That's something I'm hoping will happen, seizures were one of my first symptoms, and aren't controlled by medication.

Well, Congratulations, Anduncan!!! Woo hoo!!! turn Yippie!! yeah Happy dance time!!!!

Actually all of your conditions that you have listed could be from these infections. Hopefully by the time you have completed your treatment for these infections, you will be able to cross all those things off of your signature line!!!

I'm new here and still don't know much, but won't your test results be skewed if you take antibiotics first?u

I am happy for you. I know how it feels to be left in limbo without a diagnosis. At least you are moving in a positive direction, attempting to gain some knowledge as to what is wrong with you!

Taking antibiotics will bring about antibodies to any pathogens in my body, which is what the Lyme test looks for and so by taking antibiotics it will help ensure that the tests won't come back as a false-negative.

Hey Anduncan,

My daughter and I have been recently diagnosed with the MTHFR gene mutations. These can cause a lot of different symptoms that you seem to have in your signature. Of course what caught my eye was the epilepsy especially, being that I had it for so many years and now it's gone with treatment. I think the lyme had a lot to do with it, but the MTHFR gene mutations may have as well. It seems that these mutations are not neccessarily activated, but there is a better chance of them doing so with a chronic illness like lyme.

Fixing it is a matter of taking vitamins ( not as easy as it sounds because levels may need to be decreased or increased) , but "epilepsy" (along with a lot of your other symptoms) seem to be on the list.

I don't know.. I may be far off, but it's a simple blood test that can make a world of difference in treatment and recovery.

I am homozygous for the C677T mutation of the MTHFR gene.
