I visited my LLMD yesterday and explained that, although I had had a record number of good/very good days this past month, I had reverted once again to feeling awful. Along with my supplements, current abx (Tindamax & Clindamycin), Artemisinin, and the Xanax and Klonopin prescribed by another doc for my anxiety, the LLMD now wants me to start on something called Deplin to help improve my mood. I'm picking it up from the pharmacy this afternoon, but I don't know anything about it except what I read on random websites. I'd put much more trust in the opinions of Lyme sufferers on this website, though. I'm almost afraid to take it because sometimes I have weird reactions to things that everybody else in the world can take. My daughter is on vacation in Florida, and if this stuff makes my mood even worse, I have no one to ask for support. Any comment would be most welcome. Thanks everyone.

As long as your daughter will be back soon, why not wait? I went to the 'official' site for Deplin (www.deplin.com/), and here's what I found-
"Deplin® is a medical food containing L-methylfolate, the active form of the vitamin, folate. It is the only folate that can be taken up by the brain where it helps balance the chemical messengers that affect mood (serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine).

Deplin® provides the body with the necessary nutritional support to make the brain a better “partner” to the antidepressant a healthcare provider has prescribed."

Please be sure you watch for any kind of a reaction though.

How ironic!!! My husband sells Deplin. It is awesome and I have not had one side effect. I take it along with 50mg of Zoloft. This is instead of adding something like Abilify with a long list of side effects. I have lots of anxiety and some depression and I can tell when I do not take it. My LLMD loves it!! Do you mind me asking what state you live in? Let me know if you have any questions. It is awesome in my opinion!!

I live in NJ. The only anti-depressant I take is 10 mg of Doxepin twice daily to help with some intestinal spasms. Would Deplin have to be taken with a higher dosage of anti-depressant? Anxiety has been my main symptom, but for the past few days I feel like Im coming perilously close to depression. I'm feeling very scared right now.

Deplin helps the anitdepressant work better. Give it a few weeks though to see if you can tell a difference. It may take a few weeks!!! It does not matter the dosage of antidepressant you are on. I love it and do not miss a dose. You can get your doctor to fax a copy of your rx to Brand Direct Health. The website is BDHRx.com (not sure if needs to be lower case or not.) I get a 3 months supply cheaper than at the pharmacy and they call and remind me of the refill before i run out. It is in my mailbox in 2 days! Just might save you some money. Take a look at the brand direct health website! Let me know how it works for you. My husband always likes to throw out success stories to his doctors!
