biaxin Mepron combo. for babescia

My llmd took me off zithromax and Mepron combo for babescia. And has put me on Mepron and biaxin combo. Has anyone else been on this combo ? Any. Ideas as to why the change? What are side effects of biaxin?

Mepron and biaxin should be just as effective. Biaxin is very similar to zithromax. Biaxin has been okay for me side-effects wise and I've taken it long-term. With both macrolides you want to be careful if you get a lot of new heart symptoms. Notify your LLMD if that happens. And with any medication you should be having your liver and kidney function monitored frequently. Biaxin hits me harder than zithromax mainly for anxiety and flu-like symptoms.

Hi there, I am on Biaxin (10th day). I can only do 500mg a day. I herxed something awful on 750mg and the heart palpitations were awful. Maybe I will get back up to it. I will say for the first couple of weeks your symptoms might be magnified (I've heard a lot of folks talk about the symptoms increasing because the bacteria and everything else in there is being eradicated).

So far my gait is a little better...slow progression. I also got something natural for the anxiety, this has been with me for several weeks now and can't wait until that symptom goes away!

Thanks for the information. I'm on day 4 of the biaxin (500mg 2x a day) and I'm feeling extremely nauseous. Does this get better over time ? If so, how long does it take. I'm too nauseous to function and afraid of vomiting.
