Has anyone taken levaquin for bartonella? What was your experience? Are there alternatives that work as well? I have been on it for 2 days and my joints are aching I had zero joint pain this entire experience but I'm worried I'm over reacting just because of all the horror stories I have read about levoquin

Try a macrolide with rifampicin. The latter can have its own complications due to hepatic enzyme induction but it represents a less risky option than the fluoroquinolones IMO.

They put me on Levaquin around 2008 or 2009 and it really messed up my Achilles tendons!!!
And there are a number of other pretty serious side effects, please be careful! I paid a high price for using this drug and this is when I said enough was enough.

I used it, but only for 1,5 months. Too heavy combination with the Azythtomycin and the Monocyclin. Had to stop it, was going crazy because of the herxing. Changed to Rifampicin and Tetralysal.

Like PrayingForAMiracle said, there's a lot of side effects possible with Levaquin: tendon damage, but also eye damage. Just be alert!

My LLMD refuses to prescribe a fluoroquinolone ( Levaquin, Cipro, etc.) stating there are too many risks with these meds.  I took 2 doses of Levaquin in 2008 and all heck broke loose with my central and peripheral nervous systems.  Many people end up in wheelchairs, too, from these drugs.  Please read up on the fluoroquinolones.
