How I found out I could run again

and it wasn't planned!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I was out walking my dogs yesterday afternoon,minding my own business and enjoying the sunshine.

I must have been deep in thought because I didn't notice a tractor heading my way,it was driving through the meadow that I was crossing.

When it was about 100 yards away I finally realized what was about to happen if I couldn't get out of the way.

It wasn't only a tractor,it had a tank of liquid pig manure which the farmer was merrily spraying on the grass.

I tried shouting,waving to get his attention but he was on his mobile and didn't notice me.

It was clear that myself and my two dogs were going to get splattered with pig crap if we didn't leg it very fast.

SO, I started trying to walk as fast as I could(not fast enough) and to my amazement I actually found myself running, we made it to the path just as the farmer went past us.

This was how I found out that I can really run again, the prospect of being "spray tanned" with manure forced me to try somrthing which otherwise I would have considered impossible.

Next stop London marathon? I don't think so, still it's good to know that the next time I'm threatened by 10 tons of slurry,I'll be able to escape.

You would have been full of summer freckles from your walk in the sun...

Great to hear that you're having these unexpected progresses (your first walk uphills, and now the excape from the mean manure cart)

What was really bonkers was the first thought that went through my head.

I said to myself "Now this is definitely going to ruin my make up"LOL

I mean,make up? that was actually the last problem I should have been thinking about!!!!!

As nutty as a fruit cake.........?

Congratulations on the run!  I keep hoping that I will be able to walk the dogs with my husband.  The leg weakness has basically subsided (thank heaven) but the pain in the hip holds me back.  I am thrilled for you.

YAY!!!!! I'm proud of you! It's the little things that matter! I'm waiting for triumphs as well!!!! I can't wait for those days (well I don't want to be threatened with pig crap, but still).

Amazing how the love of our pets can show us just how far we have come and what we are capable of!! Congrats on your new found abilities!!
