Both doing well
I got bitten rely pregnancy and did not get any antibiotics until week 30 placenta and cord was negative but I still worry

I'm trying to enjoy life but its hard to get it out of my head about my baby boy and lyme I'd hate for him to be suffering but right now he seems healthy and fine .

I sometimes desperately look on the net for a good story regarding undiagnosed lyme during pregnancy and fail to find any !

Anyway I hope you are all doing well my son is such a joy and my symptoms are less and less

Hey nervousmummytobe,

Remember that many times, people only report the bad, or problems. So looking for a good story maybe hard to find. Congrats on feeling better.

I think you are doing a great job by watching for any symptoms for your son. And certainly get some bloodwork done when he is of the appropriate age, just to be sure. But otherwise enjoy him! You have such a wonderful miracle to have a healthy baby born to you with lyme. I wish you all the best and wonderful wishes!!

Congrats!!!! Bask in the miracle of having a beautiful baby boy and he's healthy and that your symptoms will soon be gone!!! What a feeling! Looking at my son gives me hope and motivation that I will be totally healed soon!

Enjoy your precious baby boy! It certainly is not a foregone conclusion that he will ever develop any symptoms of Lyme Disease.

The Lyme documentary entitled "Under Our Skin" has a mother in it that is worried that her young male toddler might develop Lyme. I think that she was undiagnosed during her pregnancy as well. The boy was fine so far. It might be beneficial for you to see the video, as I am sure that you could identify with her. She is one of the "stars" in the video. It is real life. She is not an actress. She candidly shared her fears in the documentary.

I believe I was infected with Lyme prior to my pregnancies and it went undiagnosed, I may have been bitten again during my second pregnancy. I experienced significant flares during my pregnancy and post partums.

One of my greatest fears is that my girls have congenital lyme and we just dont know yet.

This is how Ive had to come to peace with it.

1. I pray.
2. I know that God made my baby's body wonderfully and fearfully. I was just an imperfect vessel. If I support my children's immune systems and keep them from things that will unnessecarily challenge them, like vaccines, especially before they even have an immune system at age 5.. and I feed them healthy foods, I can help their body fight anything that may be lurking. I am very very careful with their immune systems. Both of my girls react to gluten and dairy. I absolutely do not feed them either. I also have made it a point since the beginning to not feed them sugar. My 5 year old has never tasted a soda or hard candy. I dont feel she is missing anything at all except illness and disease. My girls are THRIVING
3. I found a good pediatric doctor that is versed in Lyme just incase I need them. So if crisis ever hit, we would be prepared.

I know how hard as a mother it is to worry about your children being sick. But have faith and support your baby's immune system and healthy body and try not to worry. Knowing about lyme is so much of the battle. if anything happens you will know what tests to have them run and how to help them treat.

I had lyme during both of my pregnancies. Both of my girls are healthy and do not have lyme (just turned 5 and 1). I am also still nursing my 1 year old. I know you can pass lyme onto the fetus, but I was told by my llmd and 2 high risk pregnancy dr's, that the risk was low. I was not treated due to being very ill with hyperemesis(the extreme form of morning sickness). I couldn't keep anything down.

But, try not to worry. I know it is scary.

i saw an interview on youtube with two docs on a radio show talking about the rates being 50% if untreated during pregnnacy but rates go down to 5% if youre treated during preg. not sure if this is right but you are so lucky to have been treated during, that gives your son very good odds.
dont worry, but be careful, i have read lyme can be passed thru breast feeding. maybe look that up if you are breastfeeding

I attempted treatment with my first pregnancy, but I had extreme morning sickness throwing up 24/7 from week 5 till birth. I couldn't keep meds down if I wanted to. Same with my second so I didn't even attempt it. So no. I wasn't treated.

So yes it is possible to have perfectly healthy babies without treatment. And I have had lyme since 1998. I don't know the statistics, but I have a highly regarded llmd who assured me the risk was low. I can only go from experience, but my girls are 100% healthy.
