Do you take the cyst buster Tindimax daily or biweekly? I have heard both.

Hi, I had started a thread like this but someone said they took it but didn't say if most people take it daily with no breaks.......

OR

...biweekly, one week on, week off.

Does anyone know?

I think most people pulse it. Either a week on a week off or just for the weekend. I was taking it one week on, one week off.

I now take Flagyl daily (no breaks). It's similar to Tindamax.

And good to know. I read some docs won't prescribe flagyl daily due to neurotoxicity issues............

HOWEVER,

....it's looking to me like opinions will vary depending on the personal opinion of the prescriber.

Okay, if I can't afford the Tindimax I guess I'll have to take the flagyl. I prefer daily as it's a cyst buster. I don't understand the logic pulsing it. They will cyst daily so why take it on/off?

My prescriber said the choice is mine so THANKYOU for letting me know you do daily. I have used it before for a bacteria infection and had no problem with it.

Question, why did you switch from Tindimax to Flagly?

Yeah, it's definitely up to the prescriber. A lot of people have a rough time with cyst busters so it's hard for a lot of people to take them long-term. They do have a risk of neuropathy and also a cancer risk. I take B6 oral and methylcobalamin shots daily to lower the neuropathy risk.

Most LLMD's do pulse it. I think because the rational is you can catch the cysts off guard, open them up and then have the other meds to kill them off. Plus it's less of a risk of side effects.

I switched because Tindamax was too expensive for me. Also, it may draw suspicion being on it long-term if you're using insurance. Flagyl is used for lots of things and is affordable out of pocket. Walgreens has it for $40 a month.

Have you tried it yet? I avoided it for so long. I was so scared of the risks. But I handle it pretty well. It gave me a great week of improvement two times.

I was on Tindamax along with 2 other antibios for a couple months and only on weekends (pulsed) in the beginning of my treatment. It was highly effective for me, and I could feel it kicking in busting up whatever the first weekend I took it. I've had lyme for many years so it took awhile but very effective

A friend of mine was on flagyl on weekends (pulsed) and don't know if it worked or not, course he did not have many serious lyme issues, but he still had lyme.

I do understand the cost however. Go with what you can do...

Really? Cancer and neuropathy? Oh no. I tried flagyl before lyme as I had a bacteria infection. I did not get side effects but was only on it a short time. Like 10-14 days or so.

Is this possible short term? Thanks for adding this information.

You found improvement on it after you tried it. Yes, side effects are real and worrisome. I am in Canada, and on shortterm disability so flagyl is covered but not tin like you it's cost prohibitive.

Can you believe the "flag suspicion" and you're trying to heal something serious. What a world.

My ND put lyme on my stuff already so, I guess it's out. I don't mind. I'm seeing a doc soon that will give me positive ID from my skin markings. Took so long to find one. I had to cross to US to get it but once I have it from him, it will be honored here. Long story. All we do is jump fences sick.

Did you go ahead on BOTH tindimax PLUS noticed positive with Flagly too?

Hi ecotick. Thanks for being so very specific. Yes, I just found out today Tindimax is too expensive for me. $80 for the month. The flagly is covered. Ug. Tindimax is supposed to be easier on the body. Nothing I can do.

You felt it working did you? Well that is great to hear. It took a bit but effective. Great to hear. Well, I'll give flagyl a go and if I don't herx from it I'll see if my mother will help so I can try tindimax for a month to see.

My daughter takes Tindamax 3 days a week, with one other abx, then 2 other meds the last 4 days of the week. In her first 1.5 years of lyme treatment, she only used Tindamax on Friday, Sat, and Sun, because it was hard on her.. But now, 3 yrs later, she takes it on mon, tues, and wed, and she doesn't notic a difference.

My doctor never gave me Tindamax because he was afraid it may give me seizures...since I was epileptic. Although I have been off my seizure meds for 1.5 years now and seizure free.. Ahh... ridding lyme..

I don't know about the cancer risk. I talked to my doctor about it and he said it's very slight and that one study showed an increased risk another did not. I'm not too concerned. Pretty much everything (microwaves, cell phones, etc.) have at one point been linked to cancer. Even Lyme itself can increase the risk for Lymphoma.

The neuropathy is something that you have to watch closely. I do B12 shots and also added B6 and haven't had a problem. I already have severe neuropathy so that's not much of a risk for my situation either.

bbrian, okay you felt like it was working and felt dieoff but your body couldn't handle it. Thankyou as well. Sorry it took you out too.

I've been on daily Flagyl for a long time. No problems, just had to start very slowly with it - 1/4 tablet daily, with increases every 3 weeks or so until I was at the dose my doctor wanted me on.

The herxing can be intense, hence why I worked my way up on the dose slowly.

I've never been on Tindamax.

On the cancer risk, one person at a Lyme support group put it to me this way: The tiny risk of cancer is well worth killing the Lyme.

And anyway, if you take supplements as recommended by Burrascano and many other LLMD's, the antioxidants should more than compensate for the cancer risk, IMHO.

I too take Tindamax twice a day with another abx plus artisimin. When I was only on the tindamax I felt great, when we added in the next abx the headaches returned, some fatigue and feeling nauseous. Your body gradually adjusts to the new meds. I too had terrible shoulder pain when this ordeal started but the initial doxy took that pain away.
