OT - pictures of my baby goats!!

I've never done this before, so let's see if I can - please be patient!!! I created an album on Photo Bucket of the babies. We still only have 3 babies, the other doe hasn't delivered yet. We bottle feed from day 1. The temps dropped the day they were born and we got snow the next day, so the little girl is wearing the jeans coat, and the 2 little boys are wearing purple sweaters. turn LOL!!

These little stinkers are keeping me pretty busy along with milking their mama, as hubby is still down in bed with an abscessed tooth and on abx, so I'm having to take care of him as well.

Still hanging on by the skin of my teeth! LOL!! I should be back on the forum soon though, hubby is recovering slowly.

OMG Trav!! Just too precious. Even with all the work involved, it must be comforting to have all these brand new little lives to care for. Thanks so much for posting their pictures.

They are adorable- so nice to have something to take your mind off everything else!! Hang in their with your husband. My husband has a terrible cold/flu and he was calling out in his sleep that he was dying and having renal failure....lol, men are such babies when they are sick...(no offense to the men here) but I told him that is how I feel most days!!

Hope your hubby feels better, I had an abscessed tooth (when I had some real teeth) and it had to come out...

Thank you all!! Yeppers!! We are both quite proud!! LOL!! This is only her second year, and she is also already producing just under 1 1/2 gallons of milk a day!! turn Woo hoo!!! This is incredibly good for a little ole goat! smilewinkgrin

Oops!! I spelled it wrong!! LOL!! It's supposed to be Wattles! So, Mr Wattles got his name because he is the only one who has what are known as 'wattles' on a goat.

They are "simple hair-covered appendages of flesh hanging from the throat area." Also known as "goat jewelry"!! They serve no purpose, and have no significance, other than as "jewelry'!

I had to put 'clothes" on them because it got quite cold the day they were born, and since I'm such a small operation, losing even one baby would be 'painful', and of course the emotional devastation for me keeps me on my toes! They also have a warming lamp in their pen.

I will be having more babies born either today or tomorrow!!! turn WOO HOO!!! yeah Although this means I've had no rest -quite literally - since my Father-in-law moved in with us just 11 weeks ago - who can deny the cuteness factor??? Of course I'll post those pics as well. They are being born to a goat that is all black, so the colors will be interesting!

Oh! LOL!! And hubby is doing much better! No more facial swelling making him look like 'Jabba the Hut'! LOL!!!

:-)   we had goats with wattles at home, when I was kid. The goats loved it when I stroked them - LOL

I loved it when the little ones were coming, they were so adorable and so tame - they were after every bit of attention, and would even shew off your buttons when you weren't watching out.

Yep!! Sound about right! LOL! Just gotta love those babies! They are so soft and sweet as they stumble around trying to figure out how to make those legs do what they want!!

They have been great therapy for me - but they keep me much, much too busy! LOL!!! smilewinkgrin

What an honour to get to see him, LOL, just jesting Trav, they are absolutely adorable,I'm quite jealous( as is Denise).

I bet you're talking or singing to them ,What about the "Goat Herd's song" from the Sound of Music,with a dash of yodeling thrown in for good measure?

Oh Tickled,

Most every time I read your post I sit behind my monitor and honestly start laughing!  I'm sure the birds outside can hear me!!

Golly, Mr. Waddling Wattles: the jewel encrusted baby billy goat?  LOL!  And yes, I am envious..  I want me goats, chickens, and a horse as well! 

Singing sound of music with some yodeling?  Oh goodness, this really touches my funny bone!  (taking deep breath)... 

Okay, I have to get my Bear pictures together and show them to everyone (yes, I had a Momma Bear with 3 cubs at my birdstand eating the bird seed)..   Those cubs were so cute!  Will post them soon!

LOL!!! Tickled and Deevaju! You two can bring a smile to my face! I'd be giggling away if I had enough energy! turn I was up until 4:30 this morning with a very difficult delivery from the other Mama! Ugh! Don't worry, pictures will follow as these little ones are even cuter, can you believe that???

Rather than being jealous, you want to come take over a feeding??? turn LOL!!! Then you could play with them too!! smilewinkgrin

And BTW - you definitely don't want me attempting to yodel!!! I'd have to chase down the goats as they would even run from my attempts of yodeling!! Giggle!

I've been away on & off for a couple months....one of my kids had a health crisis and his 1st baby. Glad to be back & SEE YOUR NEW BABIES!!! They are adorable! I'm sure they are very therapeutic, albeit work! I so want to get a couple goats & have babes....and chickens! We have little babies around the corner from us so I get to see when the new ones arrive....watch them run around the field! So fun. Enjoy!

Thanks Peggster! They are getting big now! As you said - they are work!! UGH! But tons of fun while they are here! I had my first potential buyer visit today along with my first milk customer of the year!! Woo hoo!!

I just took another look at the link to the "group photo" that you placed in your first post. Those little guys look very huggable! Enjoy them while you can, as I can't imagine that a big Billy Goat is very huggable!
