My LLMD stopped the Mepron treatment after 3 months because of pressure from my insurance company. I had made good strides and felt like a few more months would have done it. Now I'm back at step one and started Dr Zhang's Artemisiae three times a day. I'm pulsing two days on, one day off. The herxing the second day was pretty rough but I felt better on my off day than I have in over a year. I do have one question. I have probably 50 little red bumps (look like a tiny red mole) all over my body. It's not a rash, what are they? Anything to be concerned with?

The red dots might be petechiae. I have some, but not 50. I would ask your LLMD about it, but I think it's pretty common with Lyme and co-infections. However, it could also be due to a platelet issue so I would check with a doctor especially if it's new.

I had the same problem and had to go off Mepron too soon (2 separate times). I take artemisinin now along with other antimalarials and I herxed pretty strongly on it. It was worse than the Mepron herx. I pulse 400mg 3x per day for 3 days every 2 weeks.

I had petechia pop up. I probably have more than 50 but they are literally the size of a pin prick. Some of them anyway. Def show them to your doc.Some believe it is caused by Bart others think it is caused by babs.

I had a few red dots before I started the Artemisiae but now I have a lot.

As for my LLMD, I don't have one anymore. There are not any in GA and after my insurance company scared the one I had, so now he won't even help.

Yup, have the red dots on my back, too.

My daughter had the little red pin prick sized bumps on her back, hips, and sides of her thighs. She also had both Bartonella and Babesia.

Sorry we all have to go through with this.

I am on the mepron/zith protocol for babesia but its pretty slow.

After a month I tried the full Zhang protocol with the artemesia. I had such a bad reaction to it. I hung for about a month 1/2  and then my hemo/hemocrit when way down.  So please be careful on artemesia. Its strong stuff. This has happened to others I know.

I've tried the Jernigans micro but have not be seeing much improvement.

Has anyone tried cryptolepis? I have a new herbal practiioner helping me so we'll see what she recommends. But I am staying the mepron/zith

My doc wants me to take art. and mepron. I have a good herx to the art., especially when I combine it with andrographis. so i'm a little scared to start the mepron, haven't done so yet.

I also have little red bumps all over my legs.

I have tiny pin prick sized red dots also. All over my body. My LLMD said it's from Bart. She said that Bart produces the chemical/hormone that is responsible for blood vessel growth. That's reworded from her explanation, LOL.

I thought once I started just treating the lyme again that more of those little red dots would pop up everywhere but the Houttuyunia, sida acuta, and japanese knotweed...one of the three or all of the three must be keeping bartonella in check because I haven't had any of the neuro symptoms popping up or more red dots. My veins get big and bulgy still too but hopefully that will go away as well.

Might be worth a try for those of you with the bart stuff popping up. I didn't herx with knotweed or sida acuta (though some ppl do) definite herx with the Houttuyunia but I'm up to 3 tbsp/day in the form of tea 3x/day. Whats nice about it is none of it requires a script!
