IGenex Results-Can someone help me understand them?

I received my IGenex results and need help understanding them. Please help.


I got my Igenex results back today and I tested..

IGM Positive
CDC/NYS Positive

18 kda -
**23-25 kda +
28 kda -
30 kda -
**31 kda IND
**34 kda -
** 39 kda IND
**41 kda ++
45 kda -
58 kda -
66 kda -
83-93 +

IGG Negative
CDC/NYS Negative

18 kda-

** 83-93 -

All coinfections negative.

I am very confused by these results. Do I have lyme or not?

I would call IGeneX and ask to speak to Dr. Harrison, as he will be able to interpret the results for you. The best time to call him would be either on a Monday or a Tuesday.

Your test result (listed below), could indicate that you do have Lyme Disease.
**41 kda ++

My test result was **41 kDa +++, and I spoke with Dr. Harrison on the phone and he said that with the 41 kDa test , it is 98-99% accurate

What I was told by Dr. Harrison (Dr. at IgeneX) was that in reference to the 41 kDa (IGM Result), Positives (1+ to 4+) on the **41kDa band is indicative of Lyme Disease (98-99% accurate)

I spent about an hour of the phone with Dr. Harrison trying to weasel out of the Lyme Disease diagnosis, and trying to come up with an alternative possibility...but Dr. Harrison insisted that I did in fact have Lyme Disease.

I also tested a positive on the **39 kDa + (just a single positive +)

You are CDC positive which is rare because of testing inaccuracies and the CDC's overly-strict guidelines. The crazy thing is that the CDC would say it was a false positive because they believe the IgM result is only meaningful for the first 4-6 weeks after the tick bite or infection.

What they don't realize or admit is that with Lyme it's not the case that IgM only means recent infection and IgG past. The IgM antibodies can remain for years and I believe most actually do when it comes to Lyme.
