How R U treating both Lyme and Bartonella?

Hello All-
I'm hoping some of you might tell me whether there's something that treats both Lyme and Bartonella simultaneously. I'm interested in both antibiotic treatments and others. Would you mind also saying what sort of doses are typical?

I don't know. I was told by my LLMD that Flagyl and Andrographis that I'm taking do go after Bartonella and Lyme. But I haven't found another source that verifies this as true.

All I know is, I've done the best on the combination of Flagyl & Andrographis vs. any other abx or herbal protocol I've tried.

I would say Japanese knotweed #1 on the herbal list. I weigh 95 lbs and I take 4.5 grams a day (3 x 1/2 tsp) then sida acuta (for bart and babs), 30 drops 3x/day, then Houttuyunia (for bart) starting out very slowly.

I take Bactrim, Rifampin and Mino which all have some activity against both.

I'm with ya...Bart is a stubborn you know what! I told my doctor its time to start treating the Bart because me and him need to break up already and he needs to leave me alone!

opugirl I have an appt with my herbalist on Thursday and I'm going to mention those herbs for Bart.

Everyone else I will let you know what I find out :) I was toying between two herbal tinctures (Dr. Jernigan (Lymogem) and a Bartonella Series by DesBio.

Decisions...looking forward to seeing how everyone else treat Bart.

My LLMD has me on Cefdinir (Omnicef) and Rifampin. These are sufficient in keeping my Lyme and Bart symptoms from resurfacing, but I do feel I have reached a plateau. I'm not complaining, most of my strength has returned and most of my neuro symptoms are gone.

Rifampin 300mg 1 capsule daily
Cefdinir 300mg 2 capsules daily

I'll be headed back in for a CefTRIAXone PICC, which was the best I have ever felt in my life.

After some other tests for buggers came up positive, I have also went through a couple of antiparasitic (Albenza and Batricide) treatments as well.

I would go with clarithromycin (500 mg bid) high dose rifampin (working up to a minimum of 600 mg bid and ideally 900 mg bid) and minocycline (100mg bid). Doses for adults. I'd include systemic enzymes as well.

Thanks to you all for your time. Opugirl, I think you started treatment about the same time as my daughter (I remember you introducing yourself on this website) and you seem to be making better progress than she. Are you using herbals only or antibiotics as well?

Hi Mom,

I am using herbals and antibiotics. I really cleaned up my already good diet. No white stuff, lots of water and herbal tea. No soda/caffiene/alcohol (probably not a problem for your little one). I only officially started treatment March 6th. I hope your daughter gets well soon! I saw a mother today with her daughter and I started bawling on my home from IV treatment. You are one brave woman. I told her about this site. Her daughter was so beautiful and so young and as we all have heard....diagnosed with MS. I told her not to worry, I had a lot of symptoms similar to hers.

Thanks for the info. My daughter's diet is pretty good particularly given her age. Mostly organics, no gluten, very little dairy, lots of fresh fruits and veggies. She does have a sweet tooth but it doesn't get too out of hand. She wants to play soccer again...we'll get there. Really struggling with whether or not to use antibiotics at this point. How has the IV treatment gone? She's afraid to go that route.

Well the IV treatment was just vitamins so that made it easier mentally. Physically not too bad and I'm a total baby I hate needles but it really wasn't bad.
