Question about news story.

While looking at lyme stuff online I came across this statement:

"Ontario Naturopaths are to be able to prescribe oral antibiotics as of March 2013. They will become the go-to docs for Lyme treatment as in BC for treatment of stages 1 and 2. It's hoped that other provinces are moving in this direction as well which will greatly reduce the need for out-of-country treatment."

 

What does this mean exactly? Does this only help people who are diagnosed early on?

Does this mean they are allowed to help people with Chronic Lyme or just people who were recently infected?

I have chronic Lyme and see a Naturopathic doctor regularily. I live in BC. He prescribes me my abx and advises me as to what I need to support my body with chinese medicines during my treatment. He is amazing and I don't know what I would have done had I not found him. With naturopathic doctors having the ability to write scripts, it opens the door for Lyme patients as these doctors are not governed by the college of physicians and surgeons, and therefore cannot have their licenses revoked for treating Lyme patients with long term abx. Just make sure the Naturopathic doctor you see is Lyme Literate. Good for Ontario ND's for getting the same priviledges. Great for Ontario's Lyme patients!
