I am lyme positive, celiac positive, chronic mono positive.  Also low thyroid.  Also my Natural Killer Cell Function Assay was very low - it was a 4 (8-170 range).  Any idea how I can improve this?  Also my MRI showed Ethmoid Sinus Mucosal Disease.  Anyone know what to do about that.  I started doxy today.  I have a minor headache and my skin is itchy but that is all so far.  My LLMD wants me to wear these really ugly sunglasses, SPF hats and special sunscreen.  It wants me to have sunscreen with zinc and titanium.  Does anyone know where to buy that type of sunscreen?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Well I hope you have a good LLMD! Are you going to be adding other meds in with doxy?

You can find the sunscreen at any major store (Walmart, etc). Usually the infant versions are made with zinc or titanium. That won't always protect you though. I had blistering burns no matter how much sunscreen I used. I ended up needing to put face makeup on exposed skin (hands, arms, feet, etc.) thickly.

Natural killer cells are generally lowered by Lyme and will improve when it's under control. Low dose naltrexone and Reishi mushrooms have been shown to improve NK function.

I am assuming he will add more antibiotics later but he didn't say. I was so overwhelmed I didn't think to ask. I hope my LLMD is good too. How do you know if they are good or not when no names are used? I choose him based on someone I know that goes to him and says he is good.

Some ways to decide if your LLMD is good is to educate yourself as much as possible and to notice if your treatment makes sense with everything you learn. The other is whether he is a good listener and tailors your treatment to you as you go along and see what's working, what bothers you too much, etc. Of course asking around to other people is helpful too. Best of luck to you as you get started with your treatment.
