First time poster, long time sufferer.  I'm wondering why all the secrecy around the doctors?  Who is Dr. R?  I live in NYC and i'd love to see one of these doctors.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It stems from these docs prescribing heavy doses and long-term antibiotics for chronic Lyme which is something the establishment doesn't believe in. Your email is unavailable so you can email me if you want the name.

We have to protect the doctors that help us, since they are the only ones brave enough to do it!

It's due to the controversy over lyme disease treatment. THe LLMDs risk their licenses by prescribing long-term abx. to treat Lyme Disease. We want to protect them.

Yes protecting the doctors is crucial at this stage of the disease.  Many many doctors have lost licenses, been driven out of business or have been brought up on charges and accusations of overtreatment of lyme.  Again at this stage of the game, insurance companies and the bulk of the medical community do not recognize chronic lyme.  99 out of 100 doctors at hospitals and offices refuse to recognize or treat chronic lyme.  Doctors are forced to follow "protocols" and at present the "protocol" for proper medical treatment of lyme disease is 30 days of antibiotics.  Anything after that is excessive, so they say.  Until we get  those protocols changed, doctors will thankfully treat lyme, will continue to do so quietly.  Sad.

If you haven't already, it would be helpful for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of important information, symptom lists (as Lyme rarely occurs by itself), helpful links and pdf's, how to detox when one has these infections, and a list of questions that you can ask any doctor that you are seeking treatment from!

We also have a pretty good search function on this forum to help you narrow down your search for information from past posts. We must be our own health advocates now and the best thing to arm yourself with is knowledge about our infections and the different ways to treat them!
