In March a began a 6-month round of doxycycline and plaquenil. I was only on it a couple weeks, when I got my third flare up of acute pancreatitis. The doctors who were treating me inpatient said that abx, particularly doxycycline, have been associated to pancreatitis. So, they took me off of the doxy, as well as the plaquenil, because there was no point in being on it because the two meds work in conjunction with each other. I was off of them for probably two weeks, and then I went back on them. I was on them again, for maybe a month, when I got pancreatitis again, and the same thing happened. I was off again for 1-2 weeks. Then I was on the meds for another month, and I had my wisdom teeth out. The surgeon wanted me to take clindamycin, another abx that prevents infection, which doxy doesn't do. So for 2 weeks I took clindamycin, instead of doxy and plaquenil. And I had a week where I didn't take anything. Then I was back on the doxy and plaquenil for a few weeks, and I had pancreatitis again, just this past week. The doctors again took me off of them, and they said for three weeks I have to be off of the abx. How is all of this stopping and starting and stopping and starting, going to affect my treatment? I feel like with all of this, there is no way the meds can be effective.
