I read a book called the Body Ecology Diet (or something like that), and it talked about fermented foods and how good they are for you.
I think the issue is that typical sauerkraut doesn't really qualify and have the probiotics that true fermented food does. I found jars of fermented veggies (beets, carrots, ginger and cabbage) at Whole Foods. It's the real stuff that the book recommends!
It's expensive, $8 for a jar, but I certainly don't have the time to ferment my own food so very much worth it!
