Has anyone tried lemon water for it's detoxifying and digestive effects? I have for just 2 days and I feel sicker. Could the detoxifying effects be making me feel worse as the toxins are being flushed out of my system? What is your experience with lemon water?

PS: I Just use the juice from one lemon slice, in about 12 ounces of water, once a day.

Hi Anduncan,

I drink lemon water every day and have never had a problem.

Maybe you are detoxing? Maybe try plain water for a day or two to let everything settle down?

Are you using organic lemons?

I have no idea..they are whatever my mom bought...I am also on abx...maybe a herx?

It could easily be a herx or an allergic reaction. How long have you been in treatment? Did you switch anything, start anything new or restart anything?

I have been on doxy and plaquenil for 3 months. But, I stopped it for three weeks because of ulcers, and then just restarted it. Other than that, everything is the same.

Anduncan, I think the key is your ulcer. I suffer from intestinal problems (gastritis) and cannot tolerate lemon or any type of citrus, including oranges. The citrus makes me suffer from chest pains, stomach bloating and later my lower intestine starts to hurt, specially in my lower right extremity.

What are the problems that you have with lemon?

You really need to see your LLMD. This could be from restarting your abx and be an allergic reaction to one or both of them. Itching all over is a common sign of this, not for lemon juice. Last time I had penicillin, I was itchy all over and it was going down my ears and down my throat! smhair Not good!

It could easily be something else, but for your own safety, you really need to see your doc.

I would think the acid from the lemon is bothering your ulcers :-( I can't use lemons because it makes my muscle spasms have a party! :-( Did you notice a difference when you stopped using the lemons? Sorry you feel this way.

I am just really weak, can't get the energy to move, my pain is a lot worse, brain very clouded, very dark under the eyes, and my eyes feel very tired (if that makes sense). It's not causing me stomach problems, oddly enough, because stomach issues have been some of my worse problems, other than pain, and I just got out of the hospital for pancreatitis. And guess what, they took me off the abx again! I talked to my LLMD, and he said that I should start doing 3 weeks on the abs, then 1 week off, then 3 weeks on, and so on, because of my pancreatitis...But can't that lower the effectiveness of them?

I love freshly squeezed lemons in hot water. Delicious and provides a tiny alertness boost.

Definitely very very healthy.

Hopefully you find out the problem so that you can drink it as often as you can.

Hi Anduncan,

Pulsing antibiotics can be very effective. It can draw the bacteria out of hiding, out of cyst form, etc. The bacteria grows very slowely and has a 4 week life cycle.
