Hi Ajay,

That is a tough one. I can tell you that the tests in general are unreliable- however I'm assuming given the symptoms you describe as well as the high IgG indicate a very probable infection. Some get better on antibiotics and some get worse - I would encourage you to look at the "New to Lyme Start Here" Thread at the top of the lyme forum.

You need to familiarize yourself with lyme and co-infections, what herxing is, and how to make sure your father is detoxing properly. Most LLMD's start over here with orals to make sure the patient can handle it and then if need be switch to IV. In a very rare case I know of only one person whose body went into sepsis because more bacteria was being killed then the body could handle. Again, rare - but something to think about if you are going directly to IV.

I'm sorry your father is going through this. Ceftin is a good neurological lyme drug - I have been on it myself and I did herx. Please ask any/ all questions on here. It is a very good site.

If it were me I would start with Oral. I had the neuro issues but not for too long, really only a month before I was able to get on antibiotics.
