noticed this red rash about a week or two ago

Hi - Just noticed this red rash about a week or two ago on my leg. Thought it was from a mosquito bite - since I usually get a weird reaction to those kinds of bites. (Still not sure if it was or if it wasnt)

But since it has not gone away yet, I am kinda worried.

I was wondering what you think about this?

Hi there and welcome to our Lyme community :-)

It certainly looks like a classic bullseye rash to me.

I would urgently advise you to seek out a LLMD as soon as possible if you treat Lyme in the early stages you have a much better chance of nipping it the bud before it gets to the chronic stage.

If you have problems finding a Lyme literate doctor,you could try posting.....looking for a LLMD in.........

Yes, I agree with Tickled, it looks like the classic bullseye rash.  I would take more photographs and put a coin next to the rash if you can for size and/or a ruler.  A newspaper with the date on it would help too in case  you need some documentation.

I would also try to get Doxycycline ASAP.  The sooner you take abx the better chances you have to get rid of of the lyme bacteria. 

There is a sticky thread on top of this forum called "New to Lyme? Start Here!" and I suggest you start taking detox baths (warm water mixed with epsom salts and hydrogen peroxide) to start getting the poisons out.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Just came back from a skin doctor, and got a prescription for 2 weeks of Doxycycline 100mg.

Also bought some epsom salts and hydrogen peroxide, while I waited prescription to be filled.

Hope I nip it in the bud - before it starts.

I am glad you got some Doxycycline, but 2 weeks isn't enough!! Please try to go back and get more. I hope someone else will pipe in who has more experience, but you should have at least 30 days.

Personally, I know of a lady who was prescribed 3 months of antibiotics for her daughter, based on only the presence of a bullseye rash. Her daughter had no other symptoms. The doctor INSISTED that her daughter take all 3 months, strongly emphasizing that you do not mess around when it comes to lyme.

I hope you can convince a doctor to give you more. Maybe even just see another doctor who will prescribe based on the rash. You can add it to what the other doctor gave you.
