Dizziness?...and Mycoplasma/Anaplasma

Hi All, does anyone experience dizziness with co-infections? Just checking, I have been on Doxy (200mg) for two months but have had symptoms for 5+ years.....coming and going bad to worse, but the dizziness is lately and severe.

I def had the dizziness and the xy can also give you dizziness.

I hear you BarnGurl......getting dizzy is scary and perhaps it's the daily DXY pills, I see my LLMD on Monday and will mention that....

I stopped it for a while. Mostly because I want to monitor my symptoms from the disease rather than the medication. I was also having and am still having blurred vision and stiffness. Look into the side effects of doxy. Im sure you could do the write up on them.. haha >:)

Squonk I also started taking the medication before I went to bed in the evening. It def helped with the side effects.

That's interesting, never thought of that. Right now, I take one 100mg with breakfast and the other 100mg with lunch. I think I might switch it up, see what happens.....thank you!!

Not sure but I will know after Monday's appoitment....I only have band 41+, Myco & Anaplasma.

It can run a false negative if you are taking antibiotics. Do you use probiotics ?

My baby filly (horse) had anaplamosis. It was like she was hit by a truck. We had to transport
her to a large animal hospital in the next state. It took them a while to figure it out too.
She fell ill in November. We couldnt even get her to stand. Very very sick but we werent thinking
ticks in November.

She was given doxy and was fine. She had a port at the hospital with IV. At home she was
give 1250 doxy for 6 days. She was a mini horse too prob less than 100 lbs.

I've been dizzy for almost a year. No exaggeration. It is my worst symptom. I don't drive anymore. I tested borderline for Bartonella and Babesia, so my doctor will treat for both. However, from what I've learned, it could be the Lyme causing it, it could be one of the co-infections, or it could be all three! Who knows!

Hi, BarnGurl.

Yes- I started treatment about 2 months ago. It's been a bumpy road, but that was expected. I had to take a small break from my antibiotics, and my symptoms got so much worse, so I do think they are helping.

The dizziness can be from so many things- I just hope that it will eventually get to the point where I can at least drive again!

I have anxiety while driving and try to stay close to home. I def feel more comfortable and secure being around the house. I wish you the best with your treatment. :)

Lyme and co-infections cause dizziness. And if it's increasing on Doxy, it's probably a herx. Talk to your dr. about it though.

Hi Barn Gurl. I just found your post about your mini filly having anaplasmosis when I did a google search for dizziness in mini horses. My mini gelding is walking like he's drunk today and has tripped and fallen over a couple of times. How was your girl diagnosed? Is she fine now?

Oh Sorry zoogirl...no she was not fine at all. She almost died. Your boy needs IV doxy asap if he has this. I do not know which tick borne illness he has though. She wanted to lie down and roll. We could not keep her on her feet. We transported her to a large animal hospital. Get a vet there to draw blood asap. Start doxy asap. Hope he is feeling better soon !

Sqounk67 I cannot believe this was recycled. How did you learn that +41 is anaplasmosis ? We were told it was lyme. That is exactly what my son tested positive for as well and he was def exposed to the filly who had anaplasmosis confirmed at the animal hospital. Hes had bad headaches which were cleared with antibiotics.

zoogirl I have heard of horses stumbling around like that and then ending up being infected with Lyme. I heard quite a few stories like that this summer. I hope your boy is fine but I would have the blood drawn just in case.
