My test results

Hi im new here. Been feeling like crap last two years. Im sure just like everyone else here. On a hunch i got a test done at igex. Can someone please tell me what these results are? I hunt deer alot archery. Im in the woods alot and i see ticks alot to give a little back ground. Hunted missouri,illinois,wisconsin all in last 3 years. I live in northern illinois. Hello Brent,

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to say that these results mean that you have lyme disease. My lyme specialist also reads a positive 41 as indicative of parasites. So, you will likely need treatment for that also.

Looking at the bright side, at least now you know what is causing your ill health and you can now get treatment. If you need help finding a doctor that specializes in lyme disease, please post a thread with the title "Need doctor in <your city/state>". Someone should be along shortly to offer suggestions. However, please note that we do not post doctor names on the forum. Therefore, for someone to answer your request, you will need to enable your e-mail address on your account.

If you haven't already done so, please check out the "New to Lyme? ...Start here!" thread at the top of the forum. It gives a lot of useful information. Until you are able to get treatment, the detox section can help alleviate some of the symptoms you are dealing with.

The 'search' box at the top of the page can also help you find information that has been posted in previous threads. Make sure to include the word 'lyme' in any searches that you do. Otherwise, you will get information from other HealingWell forums.

I agree, you have several bands that are 'Lyme specific', so not much doubt about it.

One reason you didn't get as ill as others is because your immune system was strong, and your body may not have issues with ridding itself of toxins - environmental, food borne and bacterial/parasitic.

I would definitely encourage you to get in to see a Lyme Literate doc as soon as you can.

For information on finding a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, you can start a new thread titled something like:"Looking for LLMD/LLND in the _______ area." You will want to find an ILADS (International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society) trained doctor, as ID Docs (Infectious Disease Doctors) believe Lyme is hard to catch and easy to treat, and don't believe in the reality of chronic Lyme. Good!! You've started treatment, that's wonderful!! Be sure to take supplements, to detox, and to take very large amounts of probiotics!!!

The 'pic' that he mentioned is most likely a 'Pic Line' meaning that he is wanting to start using IV therapy for either abx or nutritional IV's.

Pulsing refers to using an abx for so many days and then stopping it for a few days, then restarting, stopping and so on through out the treatment.

Really? In what way? It could just be your anxiety 'talking'. Be sure that you have your adrenals tested if you haven't yet. Low functioning adrenals can and do give a person anxiety. The 24 hour saliva test is the only way to know for sure what your adrenals are doing throughout the day.

Many of us have/had many more issues that that and have healed/are healing well. Don't allow yourself to get too discouraged!!!

Did your doc talk with you about eating healthy, drinking plenty of water (64 ounces a day - with lemon if you don't have muscle cramps/spasms/twitching), detoxing or exercise? All of my symptoms are
Unexplain visious anxiety attacks that last for days
High pitched ringing in ears
Ear aches
Neck pain
Dizzy if i look at certain shapes or objects.
Shoulder joints ache
Hips kill me
Lumbar pain
Back muscles and chest muscles are painfull
Muscle fasulation through out body
Weakness in hands
Left leg is restless
Feel weak on my feet at calves and hips
Tingling in left side of face from ear to corner of mouth somtimes spit would roll out of corner
Left eye droops
Head aches
Head pain on the outside
Eyes ache
I get confused somtimes of where im at
I dont feel sharp like i was
Im starting to become withdrawn
Sounds at the beginning were amplified and loud
Im iritable
Cant sleep
Vision suck
Lost for words, i feel stupid?
One beer gets me buzzing now and if i get hammered im worse
Got bumps under skin size of peas at elbows forarm abdomanal
I got sick in march 2012 with double ear infections and stiff neck with low fever. Issued amoxicllin and dismissed. I never felt the same again. Feels like somthing is killing me slowly. Im fatigued and physcialy and mentaly. Thing is i wasnt a sickly person. I never went to the docs office. Now im a sick bay commando. Im 36 now

Arnt i supposed to be getting sick with herx or is to early for that. I just feel nousice. And with those test results and my history would everydoctor think lymes. Only reason i ask is that it would make me feel better mentaly for a sure thing diagnoses is all. Does that test look like a 100% positve or a maybe positive but well treat ya anyway.

Let me explain what those bands mean - it'll put aside the doubt, I'm sure, because your test results are pretty positive for those that understand them.

Bands 18 and 41 indicate the tail fragment. There are only a small handful of spirochetal infections and Lyme disease is one of them, so is syphilis. Spirochetes are a spiral bacteria. They really do look like a 'curly -Q '.

A ++ beside the number means very positive. There are three ratings +, ++, and +++.

"IND" means indeterminate - meaning there's something there, but not enough to make it a 'full positive'.

IgM (usually 'turns' early on in infection)

Band 18 - Flagellin (tail) fragment

Bands 23-25 - OspC (Outer surface protein "C")- specific to Lyme disease - only Lyme will turn this to a positive.

Band 31++ -OspA (Outer surface protein "A") - specific to Lyme disease.

41 ind. - Flagellin fragment

IgG (a response that happens later in the disease process)

23 - 25 - IND - OspC (same as above)

39 IND - BmpA (Bacterial membrane protein "A") Specific to Lyme disease.

41 - ++ - tail fragment. Can cross react to other spirochetal infections.

As you can see, you have too many bands that are specific to Lyme disease to leave much doubt, especially when combined with your symptom list you put up.

No- every doctor would not think Lyme disease - but that's because there is a great political argument over Lyme disease. Those that know usually have gone through some training courses given by ILADS - International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society.

Some people start herxing right away, but most don't start until after a couple of weeks or more. It all depends on your toxin load, this is why we stress detoxing here - or at least I do!! LOL!

Many times our livers, kidneys and other organs are overloaded and just can't detox fast enough or well enough to keep up with the die off that is created as the bacteria is killed. That's what a herx is. They can be life threatening for a few, severe enough to stop healing for some, bad enough to interfere with healing for some, and not much to deal with for a few.

Hang in there!! You can do this!

The IFA refers to Indirect Fluorescent Assay, which from what I've read is worse than the ELISA when it comes to testing for Lyme. It can cross react with many things, so it's not a reliable means of testing at all.

It's the lowest on the scale of reliability for Lyme tests also. The ELISA is more reliable than the IFA. The Western Blot is much more reliable than the Elisa - and the Western Blot is only accurate about 50% of the time(meaning that 1/2 those that have the disease are getting false negatives). Blood testing for these diseases needs a lot more research before we can rely on them.
