I had to cut back on my abx dosage because of GI issues and possible C-Diff. In the meantime, that issue seems to be resolved, but I am really worried that I'm just getting worse. Some of my symptoms that were present before are now really prominent- like the legs feeling like jello and concrete at the same time, the rag-doll arms, and the vertigo. I swear that I have vertigo 24 hours a day. If it is still there in another 6 months, I am going to lose my mind.

I have a doctor appointment this week, so I'm sure she'll be discussing getting my dosages up again, but this whole neurological thing is just freaking me out because it makes me think permanent damage has been done and that I'm just going to be dizzy and off-balance forever.

This is the end of my second month of treatment, and I just thought I'd at least be having a few good days on and off but it isn't happening. The dizziness is making me insane because I can't do anything! I can't drive, I can't finish my freelance writing work without having to stop and put my head down every half hour.

I had a brain MRI months ago so I'm pretty sure I don't have MS or anything, but what the heck. Am I ever going to improve?

Hi, I had a lot of dizziness at first and it was driving me crazy. Symptoms seem to come and go and am back into the pain zone.

I used doxy during my first cycle and the dizziness continued. Right now I am doing Amox 2000 and Omnicef 600. I have just started this new treatment. The amox has already impproved the dizziness alot and from what I have read the omnicef helps neuro issues.

What are you taking for medicine..? Also whenever I cut off the the meds or reduce the symptoms come roaring back.

I was taking Amox and Clarithromycin, but had to stop the Amox because of the GI issues I was having. I will be adding more and increasing next week- just not sure with what yet. Always an adventure!

The penicillin derivatives help a lot. Notice the tx guidelines for syphillis are similiar. yikes

How well are you detoxing? How much are you doing to help your body detox? Have you had your adrenals and thyroid functions (T4 as well as TSH) tested? Do you have any possibility that you have co-infections?

Sorry for all the questions, but I read too many posts to be able to keep track of everyone's details, and you never know who will read this thread in the future!

I'm pretty sure my adrenals and thyroid were checked with my last blood-work. I had 12 vials taken and I think one of them was thyroid, so I'll bring it up with my doctor this week.

I try to take chlorella often, and I am eating a veggie-rich diet. I also use a dry skin brush every night. I drink a ton of lemon water....I guess I could be doing more to detox. I haven't done any epsom soaks in a while because they made me too light-headed, but maybe I can try again.

My co-infection labs came back smack-dab borderline for Bartonella and Babesia. I was supposed to be on Bactrim for the Bartonella, but my GI issues put everything on hold.

How do we even know if I have Bartonella or Babesia when my labs are borderline, and all the symptoms share cross-over similarities?

Adverse effects of clarithromycin in the central nervous system include dizziness, ototoxicity and headaches, but delirium and mania are also uncommon side effects. According to one study, its use has led to adverse effects on the nervous system in up to 3% of patients, including dizziness, anxiety, insomnia, bad dreams, confusion, disorientation and hallucination. It can very rarely cause organic psychosis.

When taken along with some statins used to reduce blood serum cholesterol levels, muscle pain may occur.

A risk of oral candidiasis, due to the elimination of the yeast's natural bacterial competitors by the antibiotic is also incurred.

The only test for adrenals that would pick up low functioning before they start to crash is the 24 hour saliva test. Here is a link to a really helpful site for adrenal and thyroid information:

I would suggest trying the foot soaks instead of the full baths if they are making you too light-headed. Not as 'potent', but that's why I'm suggesting them! I could only sneak in a full bath detox once in a great while, and only when I was feeling quite good, otherwise I used only the foot soaks. Have you been tested for the MTHFR gene mutation? It causes issues with being able to detox well.

As for the co-infections, if you only have the symptoms that overlap with other tick-borne infections, then it's a process of elimination. Treat Lyme and if you aren't healing, try treating the next infection that seems to have the most symptoms.

It's documented that those with co-infections of Bartonella or Babesia will often have trouble healing from Lyme disease without treating them first or at the same time. I was able to treat Lyme and Bartonella at the same time and then tackle the Babesia.

Have you considered using IV abx? That bypasses the gut, so the issues with the gut don't have a bearing on your treatment. Although IV abx are very serious and should only be used (IMHO) when all other avenues have been exhausted, as there are so many complications that can happen.

Something else you might want to start mulling over - some of us just can't tolerate using abx that strong. It's just too much for our bodies to handle, I think. These very strong doses are like the 'big guns' and they just do too much collateral damage (like to the gut) and there just isn't enough support for the other body functions. It may be time for you to start considering using a more natural form of medicine.

I've tried searching for a thread that we had going a while back about the reasons why someone wouldn't be able to heal, as there are so many - but I can't seem to find it.

I am so sorry to hear you are suffering with vertigo, I too have the vertigo that is so difficult to live with. I find that it comes and goes. I try to get out and move even though it is a challedge.
