Curving fingers

Fortunately (or would that be unfortunately??) I know that it doesn't hurt unless I overuse them or they get really cold. My fingers have been doing this for quite a few years now. It could be from a number of things, Lyme being one of them, but so are bone spurs and other arthritic conditions. Personally, I haven't been real kind to my hands.

Here are a few highlights in case your anxiety is getting the better of you and you don't wish to read the whole thing:

*Some of these clinical features, especially arthritis, subside and recur throughout the course of infection, presumably corresponding to a reemergence of the immune response to the spirochete.

*The fact that not all patients with Lyme borreliosis develop arthritis may be a reflection of the genetic diversity among the species comprising B. burgdorferi sensu lato.

*The mechanism(s) by which B. burgdorferi interacts with the host immune system to induce arthritis is not fully understood.

I don't have curved fingers, but I have developped dificulties stretching out my right hand. My left hand is ok for now.

Cold damp weather doesn't help.

I have Lyme arthritis, with very swollen fingers (Michelin like), not very elegant. Sometimes the swelling gets less, then all of a sudden gets worse, like Traveler posted.

Isn't it wierd ? ,after years,they are still capable of returning to normal.

I can only say that Lyme arthritis is reversable, my feet and all of my fingers except for my thumbs, have returned to nearly normal.

This is a person who couldn't open a bottle,fasten her shoe laces.........the list goes on,

The bad news is that it takes time,it depends on how long you've had it and how severe the arthritis is.

I was 20 when they admitted me to hospital, rheumatology ward. Turned me inside out and upside down for a whole week, about 4 test per day. Lyme test being one of them (but I didn't know that till earlier this year when I had the briliant idea to get my file at the hospital ). Diagnosis: Miss, you are a unique case, we don't know what is going on with you.

My fingers don't look elegant at all, it's a bit of a complex... Just an anecdote: long time ago, I was sitting in a bar with 2 friends, and a guy came up to me to make a pass at me. He didn't get lucky, and was kind of frustrated, saying 'your hands look like mole paws, you don't feel unsure about them?'.

Traveler and Tickled give me hope for the future, my hands will never be very elegant, less michelin will make me very happy though!! I hope yours will get better once you're on the right track
