Has anyone had any such symptom as this? I was sitting in a restaurant today listening to my friend who was sitting across from me, and all of a sudden there was a loud "pop" and a bright "flash" that I thought was coming from the vicinity of a table about 20 feet behind my friend. Thinking it was perhaps a flash from a camera (which still doesn't explain the "pop" sound), I looked for the camera and looked at the folks at that table and surmised that no one had taken a photo at that table. The "flash" was almost like a starburst of bright white light, and I believe the sound and the light was in my head, which scared me. Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them? I know it sounds crazy, but with all my other brain(less) symptoms, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm having electrical malfunctions in my brain!

I had a brain migraine once (didn't know what it was at the time it occured). I did have some bright light, but don't recall just how much before I lost 1/2 my vision. I was sitting in on my mom's Dr. appointment and it was sunny out, but it was really bothering me. At one point I was listening to the doc and all of a sudden 1/2 his face disappeared. I didn't say anything since I didn't want to take up my mom's time and it went away after a minute or so. It was fine after that, but when I told my dh about it when I got home, he was worried and insisted that I see someone. So I did and he told me what it was. He said stress can bring it on and I was definitely under stress. I haven't had one since.

You might want to look up retinal detachment and see if has that symptom.

Thanks Garden Peace. I've had vitreous detachments but not retinal. No probs with vision today, but think I'll go get eye checked since it's time anyhow.

I have had bright light flashes (peripheral), but no popping sounds going with it.

First thing I do is make an (urgent) appointment with an ophtalmologist. I'm scared of retinal detachment, because I have severe myopia (-10). He told me to Always pass by if I see strange things. Once I know my eyes are ok, I can be at ease again.

Just like Garden Peace, I have a few migraine auras per week. I get bright spots in my vision, but they are no flashes, they stay longer than a flash and then move around.
